The Application Guidelines and The Minimum Requirements
for the 2015-2016 Fulbright Student Scholarship Competition
► The FULBRIGHT- AMIDEAST Application form may be accessed, downloaded and
printed-out on the Binational Fulbright Commission’s website at www.fulbright-jordan.org or
you may wish to visit the “Fulbright House”, located at 19, Mahdi Bin Barakah Street in
Shmeisani, Sunday through Thursday, between 8 am until 3 pm, to obtain a hard copy.
► The FULBRIGHT- AMIDEAST Application form and Cover/Summary Page should be
filled-out as completely and in as much accurate detail as possible.
► You should type the information requested in this Application form. If there is not enough
room for some of your answers please continue on a blank piece of paper.
► At the time of applying for a Fulbright Scholarship, you must already hold or have been
awarded your terminal degree (a Bachelors degree), and your university must have already
issued you your official transcripts.
► You must attach official, translated and certified undergraduate or graduate
transcripts (in English or, if the transcripts are in Arabic or in any other language, they must
be translated into English and certified as true translations of the original documents).
► All documents should be in the original or certified as true copies.
► Please include your official, translated and certified Secondary School transcript with a
minimum of “B” average or a minimum Tawjihi score of 80% and above. Transcripts for
IGSCE and “O” and “A” levels, if applicable, should also be submitted.
► The minimum criteria for your undergraduate degree should be a Grade Point Average
(GPA) of 3.50 or better.
► The minimum requirement in your graduate studies’ transcripts should be an overall
Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.50 or better.
► Any Grade Point Average (GPA) below 3.50, requires an official letter from the University
Stating that the applicant was ranked in the top 10% of his/her graduating class.
► A Statement of Purpose essay, a Study and Research Objectives essay and Future
Plans essay, in English, should be included with the application. For additional space, if
necessary, you may use a separate sheet of paper (not to exceed 2 pages, please).
► Include three (3) letters of recommendation (in English) from persons familiar with your
academic and/or professional (work) achievements.
► Please include your Resumé (or C.V.) as part of your Fulbright Application: This C.V. is
required for ALL Fulbright candidates, including MBA degree candidates.
► Four (4) Passport-size Photographs should be attached to your application.
► The following English Language Proficiency Exams will ONLY be accepted and MUST
be included with your application at the time of submission:
■ A valid, official TOEFL ® (not older than two years). The minimum required
TOEFL Score for grant consideration depends on the TOEFL Internet-based test
(iBT) is 90 – 91.
■ PLEASE NOTE: the Binational Fulbright Commission informs all applicants that
AMIDEAST Jordan is the preferred/designated test center for the iBT TOEFL, and
scores for tests administered at AMIDEAST Jordan will be given the strongest
consideration.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you do not have a valid, official TOEFL Score Report
(not older than two years), - on the new Internet-Based Test (iBT) with a minimum
score between 90-91, it is strongly recommended that you visit the AMIDEAST
office in Wadi Abdoun (Tel: 592-9994, Extn: 135) immediately to register for the
next iBT-TOEFL Exam. No application will be accepted without a valid official
TOEFL score.
If you expect that you will not have a valid, official and current TOEFL Score Report
to submit with your application before the end of the application deadline date (30
April 2014), you must visit the AMIDEAST Office and sit for the Institutional
TOEFL Program (ITP) test and submit this score with your application. No
application will be accepted without the ITP score report, pending receipt of the
official TOEFL Score Report.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register at AMIDEAST Jordan to sit for the
official TOEFL, please be sure to inform the registration staff that you are applying
for a Fulbright Scholarship and, please be sure to write-in on the list of Institutions
who should receive your official score report: “The Binational Fulbright
Commission in Jordan” . The Institutional Code for the Fulbright Commission is:
8293, and to “AMIDEAST Washington, D.C.-(Fulbright)” using the following
code: 5027,and to “AMIDEAST-Jordan” using the code: 9180, as these institutions
should receive your Official Test Scores.
► Attach a valid, official GRE ® Score (not older than five years) to the Application
form. Remember the minimum required GRE Score for grant consideration is 1050,
or if you have taken the new and revised GRE, the minimum required score will be
308 . If you do not have a current GRE Score Report, please contact or visit the
AMIDEAST office (Tel. No. 592-9994, Extn: 135) immediately to register for the
next GRE examination. No application will be accepted without the official GRE
score report.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register at AMIDEAST Jordan to sit for the
official GRE, please be sure to inform the AMIDEAST Test Registration staff that
you are applying for a Fulbright Scholarship and, please be sure to put the following
on the Registration Test Form: “AMIDEAST Washington, D.C.-(Fulbright)”
using the following code R5027 and “ Binational Fulbright Commission”, Code
Number 7836 ,and to “AMIDEAST - Jordan” using the following code: 9180, as
these Institutions that should receive your Official Test Scores.
► For MBA applicants, attach a valid, official GMAT ® score (not older than five years) to
the Application form. Remember the minimum required GMAT Score for grant
consideration is a minimum of 600. The GMAT (MBA) Test is taken and administered at
the Arab Academy for Microsoft Technologies located at 7th Circle in the Sha'ban Bldg STS. You may also wish to visit and register on line at www.mba.com to sit for the very next
scheduled GMAT examination. No application will be accepted without the official
GMAT score.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you register at the Arab Academy for Microsoft
Technologies or on the www.mba.com website, to sit for the official GMAT, please
be sure to inform the registration staff that you are applying for a Fulbright
Scholarship and, please be sure to write-in on the list of Institutions that
“AMIDEAST Washington, D.C.-(Fulbright)” should receive your official GMAT
officialscore report.
► MBA candidates/applicants MUST have a minimum of 5-6 years of professional/work
experience after your last university degree.
► Preference will be given to those applicants 35 years of age or below.
► Applicants must be residing in Jordan at the time of application. No application will
be accepted from Jordanians residing, working or studying outside of the Jordan. Temporary
visits to Jordan to visit family or just to submit the Application form are not valid.
► Your Application Form and all requested supporting documents mentioned above should
be submitted to the Fulbright office in Shmeisani (Tel. 568-4760) NO LATER THAN 30
April 2014, at 3:00 pm. Applications received after this date or, incomplete applications
will NOT be considered.
REMEMBER: The Application Form with the accompanying documents and materials
requested should clearly reflect your study objectives in the U.S. if you expect to qualify for
Fulbright grant consideration in 2015-2016. If you need an additional copy of the Application
Form or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Binational Fulbright
