A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF A GEMCar FOR GPSA
GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION,
WHEREAS the GPSA conducts numerous events throughout the year that require the
transport of heavy and cumbersome equipment to locations on and off campus,
NOTING that the purchase of a University-Standard GEMCar, with options to accommodate
the transport of large equipment, would drastically increase the efficiency and mobility of
GPSA staff in the facilitation of the events, as well as with transportation meetings
throughout the campus and surrounding community,
FURTHER NOTING that no adequet resources are currently available for this purpose, as the
one vehicle GPSA has access too is in great disrepair and only periodically available,
FUTHER NOTING that the GPSA budget currently has the resources set-aside for projects
of this nature this year, which may not be available in future years,
BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Assembly directs the executive officers of the GPSA to
purchase a GEMCar, which will be made available to GPSA staff for the conducting of
official GPSA business, such as graduate appreciation week, social events, Assembly
meetings, meetings with the community and/or University officials. The Assembly
authorizes the executive officers to pay for the purchase price of the vehicle (currently
estimated at $11,500 – one time) and associated annual fees (parking, insurance, etc.).
