CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Fellowship in Health Policy and Management, Massachusetts General
Physicians Organization (MGPO)
The MGPO is seeking applications for a 1 or 2 year fellowship in health policy and management.
The fellowship provides a unique immersion experience and curriculum in the management and
policy activities of the MGPO. Under the guidance of fellowship program director and MGPO
medical director, Dr. Timothy Ferris, and other fellowship faculty, fellows will gain exposure to
and competency in such aspects of health care management as:
- Performance measurement and
- Global payment
improvement
- Physician contracting
- Care Redesign tactics
- Human resources
- Population health management
- Quality and safety
- Hospital operations and
- Project management
governance
- Pay-for-performance
Successful graduates of the fellowship will be well-positioned to obtain a mid-level management
or policy position in a hospital or health care organization. Candidates selected for a two year
fellowship may be eligible to obtain an MPH degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Interested applicants should have career aspirations in health care management or policy, as well
as prior experience in leadership. Interested applicants should submit the following application
materials to Linda McKenzie in Bulfinch 205 by Friday June 15th 2012:
- CV
- One-page statement of interest
- Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the applicant's current
department chair or program director (due no later than July 6th 2012)
The fellowship will begin July 1st, 2013. Applicants must have completed residency or current
fellowship by that time, and must be board-certified or board-eligible in their chosen specialty.
There will be an optional information session with Dr. Ferris, the current fellow Dr.
Creagh Milford and former fellow Dr. Ryan Thompson on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 6:00
PM in Bulfinch 207.
