Women in Philanthropy Grants Program
2015-2016 Grant Information & Guidelines
Philosophy
The SRJC Foundation’s Women in Philanthropy are a dedicated community of women who support
SRJC’s legacy of providing quality and affordable education to all who seek it by providing funds to
meet the highest priority needs of students. Funds raised through annual membership dues to Women in
Philanthropy are directed to the areas of greatest need as voted upon by the membership.
Eligibility
Any Santa Rosa Junior College department, program or campus group may apply for a grant. Funding
requests must directly benefit students and/or the College.
Grant Criteria

Requests for funding must directly benefit SRJC students and/or College departments, programs and
activities that exist for the benefit of students. Benefit to students means that the grant will directly
promote student success in achieving educational and/or career goals.

Requests may include an existing need or a new initiative. If new initiatives are ongoing, an
explanation of sustainability is required.

The activity may involve partnerships or cooperation with other segments of the College community.

The grant recipients will be required to attend at least 3 Women in Philanthropy events each year
with a student AND staff/faculty representative to speak about the support they have received.

The following grants will not be considered:
a. Multi-year grants
b. Equipment requests
c. Improvements or repairs to College facilities
Available Funding
For 2015-2016 year Women in Philanthropy will provide a total of $20,000 in funding support.
Grants will be reviewed by the executive committee of Women in Philanthropy and the final decision
for awarding will be voted upon by the membership of the committee. The Women in Philanthropy
committee reserves the right to fund 1 grant for the full amount or multiple smaller grants. Grants are
available for one year and are not renewable.
Examples of successful past grant applications have included funding for students to undertake a
science/medical research summer internship (otherwise unpaid); money to supplement financial aid to
purchase required textbooks; funds to allow a student to undertake a required human services internship
(otherwise unpaid) to gain experience in a planned career. These examples are not intended to limit, but
only to illustrate, potential grant purposes.
Timeline for Review
Applications are due Friday, April 17th. Grants must be used within the 2015-2016 academic year.
