COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
DESCRIPTION
The ROBERT & BARBARAWADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP fund has been
established by Mr. Robert R. Wade for the purpose of awarding a $500 scholarship each year to a
graduating Lexington High School senior who enrolls in a community college or trade school
within the State of Nebraska. The scholarship award is renewable for up to two years, making the
scholarship worth up to $1,000.
QUALIFICATIONS
Consideration for the scholarship may be given only to a graduating senior who ranks in the
upper 1/2 of the class, is a United States citizen, shows qualities of good character and leadership,
demonstrates an aptitude of academic achievement, and has participated in extra-curricular and
community activities. The recipient must also demonstrate financial need.
INSTRUCTIONS
Each applicant should submit a completed application no later than April 1st of each year. The
application packet should include:
1. a cover page that includes the applicant’s name and recent photograph;
2. the completed application page;
3. college major and your career objectives statement (250 words or less);
4. statement of financial need;
5. two letters of recommendation completed by instructors whose class the applicant has
completed or in which he/she is currently enrolled;
6. a third letter of recommendation completed by an adult designated by the applicant
outside the school other than a relative (employer, pastor etc.);
7. a community / high school activities resume;
8. a copy of an official high school transcript.
The application should be submitted to the Lexington High School counselor's office, which will
forward the application to the Lexington Community Foundation Scholarship Committee.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The scholarship will be awarded at Honors Night.
PAYMENT
Payment of this scholarship will be made after successful completion of the first semester or term
of the freshman year with a grade point average of 2.5 or better, based on a 4.0 grading system,
and enrolled for the following semester or term.
In the event the recipient does not meet the required GPA, a probationary term, immediately
following the recipients first term, will be granted. If the recipient’s 2 nd term GPA meets the
scholarship requirement, the scholarship will be awarded following the probationary term.
