Student Government Minutes for the Meeting of November 6, 2008

The meeting on November 6, 2008 was called to order by President Kelley Bronson. The roll was taken by Secretary Jessica Balsei.

Old Business

Secretary Jessica Balsei thanked those who volunteered at the Election Day Voter Drive.

Treasurer Phillip Nuce thanked those who helped out at the SIFE Credit Workshop.

Treasurer Phillip Nuce reminded the volunteers that campus visitation day is November 8 from 9:30-11:30am in Gym 1. Volunteers: Jessica Balsei, Emily Miller, Timmy Smith, and Desiree Cruz.

 Vice President Nicki Stanley thanked those who helped out at Bob Tinnell’s portion of the

Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series.

Vice President Nicki Stanley reminded the volunteer, Stephanie Keyser, that Comedy

Night is tonight at 7pm in the Turley Center Ballroom.

Vice President Nicki Stanley thanked everyone for everything they did for Homecoming.

President Kelley Bronson thanked Ricardo Nesbit and Emily Miller for helping out at the

Student Health Fair.

President Kelley Bronson thanked everyone for attending the Meet the Candidates:

Town Hall Forum.

President Kelley Bronson reminded those who volunteered at Family Movie Night on

Friday, November 7.

New Business

Secretary Jessica Balsei announced that the ASID Design Expo will take place on

Tuesday, November 18 from 10am-2pm on Main Street. Volunteers: 9am-Gabriel Akers,

Stephanie Keyser; 10am-Jeff Barr; 11am-Heather Yoder, Stephanie Keyser; 12pm-

Courtney Young; 1pm- Timmy Smith, Trent Johnson.

Treasurer Phillip Nuce encouraged members go see The Love Guru on Wednesday,

November 12 at 7pm in MMA.

Treasurer Phillip Nuce announced that the Central Blood Bank Blood Drive signups are going to be on Monday, November 17 from 11am-1pm. 11am-Heather Yoder and Nicki

Stanley; 12pm- Amber Marks and Jaime Hoffmann.

Treasurer Phillip Nuce announced that the Central Blood Bank Blood Drive is going to be on Wednesday, November 19 from 12-5pm in Colebank Gym. Volunteers: 11am-Trent

 Treasurer Phillip Nuce gave the treasurer’s report: $3250.49-catering for Homecoming events, $513.40-Dance Decorations, $818.00-flowers, $2800-Laser Tag/Vendors, $3700-

Comedians, $1000-Bob Tinnell, $500-Photo Shoot, $50-Sound at VSizzle, $575-DJ at the Dance, $316-Bond DVD/CD Collection, $3096-TShirts, $459trophies/crowns/ribbons,$360 Police for Traffic Control at the parade, $50-

Gloves/Scarf/Necessities for the Parade Marshall, $78-signs.

Recycles Day on Thursday, November 13 from 10am-2pm. Volunteers: 9:30am-

Jennifer Utt; 12pm- Tyrone Hodges and Matt Heitmann; 1pm-Ankeeta Singh and Leslie

President Kelley Bronson announced that we will be making cards on Veteran ’s Day,

November 11, on Main Street. Volunteers: 10:30am- Jeff Barr, 11am-Stephanie Keyser

and Heather Yoder, 12pm-Courtney Young and Heather Yoder, 1pm- Trent Johnson and

Timmy Smith.

President Kelley Bronson reminded volunteers, Jessica Balsei, Phillip Nuce, Jaime

Hoffmann, and Courtney Bolyard, the Firoozeh Dumas’ portion of the Celebration of

Ideas Lecture Series is going to be on Monday, November 17 at 7pm in the Turley Center

Ballroom.

President Kelley Bronson took volunteers for the Presidential Search Discussions on

Wednesday, November 12 in the board room. 3:30: Lauren Mascioli, Timmy Smith,

Amber Marks, Jaime Hoffmann, Stephanie Keyser, Kelley Bronson, Jessica Balsei,

Tyrone Hodges, Katie Jackson, and Shawn Ragsdale. 6:30pm: Gabriel Akers, Matt

Heitmann, Courtney Bolyard, Ricardo Nesbit, Jane Paterson, Yoko Matsumoto, Allison

Wareing, Nicki Stanley, and Phillip Nuce .

Visitors

WV Association of Young Children gave their first petition to become a recognized organization on campus.

Advisor’s Report

Advisor Laurie Johnston took volunteers to go to the Dunbar Boys and Girls Club on

Friday, November 7 at 3pm.

Committee Reports and Announcements

Faculty Senator Amber Marks announced that the next Faculty Senate meeting will be on

Tuesday, November 11.

The meeting was adjourned by President Kelley Bronson.
