MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the St. Mary’s College Football Alumni
Chapter is to provide an organization through which its
members can preserve the legacy of St. Mary’s College
football and coordinate their efforts to keep connected
the people who embodied the spirit of Gael football.

AND BYLAWS
ARTICLE I
Name, Location and Purpose
Section 1. The name of the organization shall be the
St. Mary’s College Alumni Football Chapter,
hereinafter referred to as SMC Alumni Football
Chapter or the Chapter.
Section 2. The principal office for the transaction of
business of the Chapter shall be fixed and located in
the State of California at such location(s) as
determined by the Chapter’s Leadership Council.
Section 3. The purpose for which this Chapter is
formed is to provide an organization through which
its members can preserve the legacy of St. Mary’s
College football, in a non-profit chapter:
(A) To promote and keep connected the people
who embodied the spirit of Gael football.
Section 4. The purposes of this Chapter do not
include pecuniary gain or profit to the members
hereof. None of its assets, if any, shall ever inure to
the benefit of any member or other individual, firm
or corporation except upon dissolution of the
Chapter as provided in Article II Section 3(G).
ARTICLE II
Membership
Section 1. Regular Membership: Any person, firm
or corporation who has a passion for preserving the
legacy of St. Mary’s College football shall be
eligible for membership in this Chapter as a
member.
Section 2. (A) Application for membership in the
Chapter shall be made in writing to the Leadership
Council using the appropriate form supplied by the
Chapter. The applicant shall agree therein, if
admitted to membership, to accept and be governed
by the Bylaws of the Chapter.
If two-thirds (2/3) majority of the
Leadership Council disapprove the application for
membership, the application must be presented to
the next general membership meeting of the Chapter
where at least two-thirds (2/3) of those members
present must vote favorably or the application shall
be rejected.
(B) Expulsion: Any member accused in
writing by another member of improper practices or
acts injurious to the interest of the Chapter shall
have an opportunity to answer said charges in
writing and both arguments shall be submitted to
the Leadership Council for a decision. A two-thirds
(2/3) majority vote of the Council shall be necessary
to expel a member of the Chapter under this section.
Said member may appeal the decision of the
Leadership Council to the general membership as a
whole. A two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the
members shall be required to nullify any action
taken by the Leadership Council.
(C) Resignation:
Any member may
withdraw or resign from this Chapter upon six (60)
days prior written notice to the Leadership Council
and payment in full of all dues, assessments and
other expenses properly allocated thereto.
(D) Reinstatement: If the membership of
any member is terminated for any reason,
application for reinstatement must be made in the
same manner as application for new membership.
At such time as application is made, such applicant
shall also tender such dues and/or assessments as
are properly determined by the Leadership Council.
(E) Vested Rights: No member shall
acquire any vested right or severable interest in any
property owned by the Chapter, and upon
termination of membership, any and all interest the
member may have had in the Chapter and property
belonging to it shall cease and terminate.

(F) Voting Rights: Each member shall be
entitled to one (1) vote.
The End
(G) Dissolution: In the event of dissolution
of the Chapter, all assets of the Chapter shall
become property of the Board of Trustees of St.
Mary’s College of California.
ARTICLE III
Budget, Fees and Dues
Section 1. The initiation fees and assessments for
membership in the Association shall be as
prescribed by the Leadership Council.
ARTICLE IV
Leadership Council
Section 1. Subject to limitations of the Articles of
Incorporation these Bylaws, and the controlling
provisions of law, all powers of the SMC Alumni
Football Chapter shall be exercised by or under
authority of, and the administration of business and
property of the Chapter shall be controlled by the
Leadership Council.
Section 2. The Leadership Council shall hold
regular meetings each year at a time and location
determined by the Council.
Section 3. The number of council members shall
not be less than eight (8) and no more than ten(10).

Leadership Council term?
Section 5. In the event a Leadership Council
position becomes vacant by death, resignation or
otherwise, the remaining Council Members shall fill
such vacancy by appointment from active members
in good standing within thirty (30) days of the time
the vacancy occurs.
ARTICLE V
Amendments
Section 1. These Bylaws may be amended, or
revised at any regular meeting by a majority vote of
the Leadership Council.
