Job Purpose:
To ensure that the Research & Monitoring Unit can continue to supply the
best possible evidence available to support the widest possible range of our
interests.
Place in Organisation Structure:
The postholder will report to the Senior Project Officer, Research &
Monitoring Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

To support the Evaluation Manager, Senior Project Officers and Project
Officers in the delivery of high quality monitoring and evaluation work
for a number of key projects
To support the Director, Evaluation Manager, Senior Project Officers
and Project Officers in the delivery of specific elements of delivery
relating to key themes identified across the project portfolio
To liaise with selected partners, sub-contractors and colleagues as
necessary to ensure successful project delivery
To assist in project areas beyond immediate sphere of activity where
skills allow and need dictates
Detailed Duties:

To provide assistance to the Senior Project Officer and Project Officers
in the Research & Monitoring Unit on monitoring and evaluation
project delivery matters including project set up, data collection,
analysis, reporting, internal liaison and external communication.
6.
To support all monitoring and evaluation requirements of Sustrans’
projects.
7.
To undertake any data processing as well as statistical and analysis
work in the appropriate project areas as assigned.
8.
To help with compilation of appropriate academic and other secondary
evidence in the specified project area.
9.
To support and undertake the writing of accurate and adequate
reporting of all relevant project and organisational findings.
10.
To support liaison with external partners and help manage external
contracts as and when needed.
11.
To work closely with the other Project Assistants, Project Officers,
Senior Project Officers and Evaluation Manager on common themes
and projects.
12.
To undertake other such duties appropriate to the grade and the post
and capabilities of the post holder as may on occasions be directed by
the management group or line manager.
13.
To support and comply with the organisation's policy for the
management of Health and Safety.
14.
To work in accordance with the arrangements described in the
organisation's health and safety management system including any
project or department specific requirements.
Working Conditions:
The Research & Monitoring Unit is based in offices in Newcastle which also
houses other regional staff. This role will be based at our Newcastle, Bristol or
Edinburgh office. Occasional overnight stays away from home may be
necessary.

Ability to contribute to the production of accurate reports

Qualification:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related field
Training and/or qualification (formally or through extensive
experience) to undertake statistical calculations using
statistical computer software (Excel equivalent to Level 3, R,
or other programmes)
Experience
A track record of successful working with colleagues and
external partners
Working in/studies relevant to local transport monitoring
Experience with evaluation of active travel and physical
activity behaviour and changes within it
