Industrial Revolution mini-project
Pretend you are a worker in a factory during the industrial revolution, looking at the city from your
tenement (small, crowded, dirty apartment) window. Please draw one picture of the farm you left and
three different pictures of what you see from your window of the city.
What did your farm used to
look like before you sold it?
Draw the house, barn, fields
of crops, and any animals you
would have had.
What does the inside of your
tenement (run-down apt.) look like?
Please make sure you include a bed,
stove, your clothes, and anything else
you might have. Remember, you’re a
poor worker who doesn’t have much.
Please draw where you work.
Do you work in a textile mill
or a different kind of factory?
Do you work in a coal mine?
Please draw the view of the city from
your tenement. Do you see factories
with black smoke? Do you see
crowded streets with trash, horses,
and people?
Please make sure your drawings are neat and colorful! You can use pictures taken from the internet or
magazines. Please ask me if you have any questions!
This project is worth 20 points and is due Monday, January 3rd, 2011.
