PROJECT + PRESENTATION IS DUE: 5-26-2015
You will complete this project in groups of 2-3 students.
Each group will select one of the 200 drugs listed on
http://www.drugs.com/top200.html and will be asked to do the following:
1. Create a 3-D complete structural diagram of the organic compound.
This model must be able to hang from the ceiling in our classroom and
have the common name, legend, and IUPAC name visible.
2. A report must be submitted that states:
 The IUPAC name for the organic compound
 chemical structure
 chemical formula
 molecular mass
 define and identify functional groups
 Which company is making it?
 What is it used for? What is it treating?
 How can this drug affect your body when taken? (drug’s mechanism inside the body)
 Possible side effects?
 Precautions? i.e. don’t take it with alcohol or other drugs, description/explanation of the compound’s uses,
risks or benefits associated with the compound, any other information you found interesting.
3. Presentation
 Powtoon or Prezi presentation : 3 to 4 minute presentation, digitally done on www.powtoon.com or at least
15 slides total on www.prezi.com
 Informational booklet: created from 3 pieces of 11x8 paper (including cover), printed in a booklet format
from computer
 Advertisement video: at least 1 minute, acted by all group members, recorded and played in class. Typed
script must be turned in.
4. References: Include a minimum of 4 MLA referenced sources.
