2. Copy of transcripts (from Maine Street)
● Completed all required early education courses with a C- or better
○ EDU 250,EDU 362, EDU 366, EDU 327, EDU 329, EDU 325, EDU 387, and two (2)
from early childhood education courses EDU 328, HUS 160, HUS 261, OR EDU 352, or
equivalents.
● Completed 6 credits hours each in liberal arts mathematics, English, science and social studies
● No incompletes in any courses
5. Letter of introduction: 1 page Format: 12cpi Times New Roman with 1 inch margins following formal
letter format. The letter will be shared with cooperating teachers and building principals in each
placement. You may describe your educational experience and goals, your personal qualities, experience
with students, why you wish to teach this discipline, or anything that you feel will help your mentor
teacher better know you. (submitted electronically)
5. One letter of recommendation from your content area advisor attesting to your readiness to work with
children in a public school setting (if a non-matriculated student, a professional reference is acceptable)
6. One letter of recommendation from a education course instructor attesting to your readiness to work
with children in a public school setting (can be in education or content area; if a non-matriculated student,
a personal reference is acceptable)
7. Proof of fingerprinting and criminal check
8. Teacher e-portfolio (link) to include
 Documentation of understanding and growth in at least four of the eleven Maine Teaching
Standards.
 Documentation of at least two units of study you have constructed that are aligned with
appropriate standards.
 Documentation of at least 10 hours of observation.
 NOTE: E-portfolio link will be shared with cooperating teacher.
NOTE: Students who have transferred in credits from another institution or who are nonmatriculated must have their portfolios pre-approved prior to submitting the application.

may request specific schools, grade levels, and teachers. Please be aware, however, that even though we will honor
your requests when possible, you may not be able to be placed in the schools you request.
