Math Test Summary Simone Bardt This test is assessing single digit multiplication. The GLCE is N.FL.03.11 Find products fluently up to 10 x 10; find related quotients using multiplication and division relationships. I think the test will take the third graders about 25-30 minutes. My classmates who took the test took about 5- 10 minutes on average to complete. Since we are more familiar with the topic I multiplied this time by 3. My Flesch level was 3.2. My literature connection is Amanda Bean’s Amazing Dream by Cindy Neuschwander. Multiplication Lessons Day 1: - Read Amanda Bean’s Amazing Dream Discuss why multiplication might be like repeated addition but faster. Show some examples of what we might multiply. Day2: - Demonstrate how to use multiplication manipulatives. Teach students vocabulary used in multiplication. Show and practice using construction paper and base ten blocks to multiply. First number in the problem is the number of rows. Begin with multiplying numbers 1, 2, 3. Day 3: - Show students other manipulatives for multiplication (i.e. washers and hooks, number chart with multiplication eye). Show different multiplication algorithms. Continue multiplying numbers 1,2,3,4, 5, and 6. Day 4: - Multiply with number 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9. Practice multiplication tables by singing rap –ability multiplication tables cassette available in ERL (author Rossi).
