The Power of Positive Change Awards recognizes young Nova Scotian’s who make a
positive difference in their schools and communities. The winners receive a $2,000 bursary
for post-secondary studies, apprenticeship training or other educational opportunities. To

a school or community activity or promoting positive attitudes and behaviour.

Excellence Awards
Criteria: Students graduating from high school with an average of 75% or
above, who have been offered admission to a full-time program may apply for
an Entrance Award. Applicants must have been offered a full time admission to
NSCC and paid the confirmation fee.

website at www.nscc.ca. Go to Admissions, on the upper left of the menu bar,
click on Cost and Financial Aid, and then click on Scholarships and Bursaries.

Six of $2750each
Open to African Canadian students with some element of financial need who
were born in or completed high school in Nova Scotia. Student must satisfy
admission requirements and attend St. Mary’s as a full time student.

Applications available in the Guidance Office
Awarded to incoming Saint Mary’s students with a desire to live in residence
and contribute to the spirit and fabric of Saint Mary’s University. Recipients will
have demonstrated a commitment to extracurricular pursuits and a strong track
record of involvement and contribution to their home community and school
through student government and student lead initiatives, volunteer
organizations, athletics, and community institutions. Award recipients will live
in residence in Single Student Housing and participate in the meal plan (with a
mandatory or voluntary plan).

Four different scholarships available: CIBC National Scholarship, Waterloo
Mathematics Foundation National Scholarships, and two Rene Descartes
National Scholarships.
Awarded on the basis of exceptional Academic Performance, energetic
entrepreneurial spirit, and a grasp of the broader view of math and technology
– their applications and significance. The Descartes scholarships require
participation in the Euclid Mathematics Contest.

Entrance Scholarship, Beryl Ivey Continuing Entrance Award, National Merit
Award. Open to students who will attend Western.
Awarded on the basis of outstanding Academic Performance (90%+ av.),
demonstrated ability for creative and innovative thought, a passion for the
pursuit of learning, and exceptional leadership in extracurricular activities such
as the arts and athletics. Special emphasis is placed on a candidate’s
commitment to community service.
* The school can nominate up to 4 applicants. Applicants wishing to be
considered for nomination must submit their resume to the Student Services
office by Friday, Jan. 20, 2012.
