June 30, 2010, and returning to part-time hours effective July 1, 2010.

General Intake
Provide information to students regarding the difference between Academic Upgrading and
General Education Diploma (GED), so that they can make informed decisions; refer GED students to the Department Assistant, School of Arts, Science and Upgrading.
Maintain working knowledge of entrance requirements to all GPRC programs.
Understand and apply the information in the Alberta Transfer Guide to the intake process.
Liaise with GPRC departments as required.
Act as a resource for potential students and refer them to internal/external personnel or agencies as appropriate.
Maintain working knowledge of Skills Investment Program eligibility and refer students to
Financial Aid as appropriate.
Placement Assessments
Respond to inquiries regarding placement assessment for all GPRC programs and courses; complete and file required Academic Upgrading Department (AUD) intake forms.

Assess potential students’ background, through interviewing and referring to official documents, in determining whether or not assessments are required. If assessments are required, determine appropriate assessment tools to ensure accurate placement. If assessments are not required, refer students to appropriate departments for advising.
Schedule and supervise placement assessments for the GPRC Campus; provide placement assessment support to Fairview Campus with travel as required.
Liaise with regional proctors regarding off-campus placement assessments and prepare packages for distribution.
Receive incoming placement assessments and process as per guidelines.
Mark and score placement assessments using the Scantron and publishers’ standardized norms, respectively; collate results and send assessments/essays to designated Academic
Upgrading instructors for review; record placement results.
Meet with designated Academic Upgrading instructors and, as a team, determine appropriate placement levels for each applicant.
Send completed assessment packages for permanent filing to the Department Assistant, School of Arts, Science and Upgrading.
Advise students of their placement results explaining or defending placement and/or assessment decision.
Academic Upgrading Advising Support
Actively participate on the AUD Advising Team; make recommendations on ways to improve the intake process.
Maintain placement and AUD inquiry statistics.
Consult with the AUD Chairperson and the Chairperson of the AUD Advising Committee as required to plan advising dates.
Schedule students for telephone or group advising appointments.
Prepare/organize AUD advising room and provide all necessary files and forms for advising; provide necessary documentation for telephone advisors.
Manage group advising by greeting/directing students to available advisors, photocopying paperwork and filing.
Internal/External Testing
Schedule and supervise exams for GPRC departments as requested; external agencies, ensuring compliance with any regulations they may provide; and all GPRC supplemental/ deferred final exams.
Initiate invoicing of students or external agencies as required for testing services with Financial
Services.
Maintain statistics of testing room usage.
Liaise with Academic Upgrading Department and Other o Actively participate in AUD student activities, department and divisional meetings/retreats, and committees.
Liaise with the Department Assistant, School of Arts, Science and Upgrading and the AUD
Chairperson.
Report advising and placement numbers regularly to the AUD Chairperson. o Maintain confidentiality of student records adhering to Freedom of Information and Protection of
Privacy regulations. o Other related duties as assigned.

Two years’ post-secondary education and one year’s related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; plus, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
: Level C: $3,597.00 - $4,925.00 per month (as Full-Time)
Level C: $1,798.50 - $2,462.50 per month (as Part-Time)
