Important Info for Grade 12 Students – 2014/2015

Graduation Requirements:

Credit Counselling Summary – make an appointment to check your graduation requirements status.
o Transmission of Marks to University & College - All applications for Ontario colleges and
universities are done on-line. In order to ensure that your demographic and grades information
is available to the college and university application centres, we will use secure transmission
technology to release the grades for all students in Grade 12 to the Ontario College Application
Service and the Ontario University Application Centre. If you would like more information
about this please contact your assigned guidance counsellor.


o October 20 & 21 – College Fair – Direct Energy Centre-Exhibition Place
o November 5 – Maple’s Post-secondary Fair (will be Alexander Mackenzie High School - 300
Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill - from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)
o Apprenticeships – reps. from apprenticeship career sectors will be at Post-secondary Fair

Applying to College/University
o College - applications start in October
 Application fee - $95 (this was the 2013/14 fee) - five program choices
 February 1/15– equal consideration date
o University – applications start typically at end of November – once you receive PIN. Pin
numbers sent to Guidance from OUAC. We will let you know when they arrive
 Application fee - $140 – three choices; $47 each additional choice
 January 14/2015 – application DEADLINE date
o Post-Secondary Application Workshops – University Apps – October 29
 College Apps – October 30
o Supplementary Applications – very important to check the websites of the schools you apply
to, to find out if the program requires a Supplementary Application to be completed – this is
YOUR responsibility!


OSAP – if you require financial assistance – apply for Ontario Student Assistance Program on the
OSAP website http://osap.gov.on.ca at least 10 weeks before the start of your program (late May/early
June)
You need to apply on the website to get the Ontario Tuition Grant (30% Tuition $1680 for university;
$770 for college)

