Introduction
The arts in Gloucestershire are a rich and exciting mix, and it would be impossible
to include every organisation in a directory of this size.
The directory
concentrates on those organisations which provide a year-round service to the
arts, focusing in particular on the opportunities which they provide for educational
and community work. A list of Other Key Contacts provides contact names for
local festivals, voluntary organisations, agencies offering arts as a secondary
activity and many more. We hope the directory will prove useful to school
teachers, parents and governors; librarians; youth and community leaders, and
indeed anyone interested in participating in the local arts scene.
Festivals are another rich resource for collaborative arts projects, and
Gloucestershire has one of the oldest, and some of the newest festivals in the
country. Major Festivals are listed in this directory, but details of local Festivals
(whose voluntary committees change annually) can be obtained from the various
District Council Arts Officers, who are listed amongst the County and District
authorities, at the back of the directory.
If you would like to suggest improvements to the directory, or to discuss arts
services in Gloucestershire, please contact me at the address below.
