STUDENT ALUMNI FELLOW – ACM INDIA PROGRAM
The Associated Colleges of the Midwest will be selecting a Student Alumni Fellow for its Pune,
India, Program for the Fall 2013 semester. The primary purpose of the position is to help program
students familiarize themselves with Pune and to enhance their cultural immersion. The Student
Alumni Fellow will report to the Student Services Assistant and work with the on-site team, which
includes both the Director and Office Administrator. S/he will also work with an Indian student
counterpart. This is a temporary, non-renewable engagement, from August to the end of November,
when the program concludes.
Responsibilities of the position include:
 Assist Office Administrator and Student Services Assistant in planning for students’ arrival
and orientation in the first weeks of the program.
 Deliver advice, information, and services designed to make the ACM India Program
participants’ experience as productive as possible.
 Coordinate and deliver advice, information, and services designed to assist students to make
their transition to the community a smooth and successful one.
 Throughout the program, plan and coordinate activities to enhance students’ ability to adapt
to Pune. Such activities in the beginning weeks might include use of local transportation,
shopping (and bargaining) etiquette, and introduction to the area around the program center.
As the term progresses, the alumni fellow will organize cultural dialogues with the Indian
university counterpart.
 Accompany students on all program excursions.
 Be available to students on a regular basis to facilitate their understanding and ability to
adapt to program homestay and academic arrangements.
 Discuss any student-related issues that may arise with the Office Administrator, Program
Director, and Student Services Assistant.
Requirements for the position:
 Alumnus/a of the ACM India Program.
 B.A. from an ACM member college or from a program-affiliated college.
 A willingness to share their experience with program participants and to facilitate students’
adaptation to Pune and India in general.
 Attendance at a minimum of one class at the program center.
ACM will provide the following:
 Round-trip economy class airfare from the individual’s home to Pune.
 Homestay for the months of August through November.
 Monthly stipend.
 Reimbursement of visa related expenses.
 Reimbursement of expenses related to program-related activities.
