Rules Governing Graduation Ceremonies
Participation in formal graduation ceremonies is recognized as a privilege, not a right, which shall be extended to all
graduating seniors subject to the standards of conduct set forth in paragraph 3 below.
It is hereby acknowledged that participation in the graduation ceremony is optional. Students who wish to receive
their diplomas, but do not wish to take part in the ceremony, should indicate so on the form enclosed.
Students must note that since participation in the graduation ceremony is optional, diplomas will be withheld for a
period of ONE YEAR from those students who violate the following rules:
Graduating seniors will dress appropriately for the ceremony.
Boys must wear dress pants, shoes and socks.
It is recommended that they wear a shirt and tie.
Girls must wear dress shoes.
It is recommended that they wear neutral colored attire.
No adornments of any kind, other than honor society pins, may be worn on caps or gowns.
Examples of inappropriate dress include, but are not limited to, sneakers, flip-flops, shorts, jeans, etc. It is
expected that all students will use good judgment in the selection of personal clothing that is neat and clean
and that will not be offensive either in taste or modesty.
Graduating seniors will conduct themselves in a dignified manner throughout the entire ceremony,
as well as during the rehearsals for the ceremony.
Examples of undignified conduct include, but are not limited to being under the influence of alcohol or
drugs, dramatic displays or vocal outbursts, tossing objects, possession of inappropriate objects, etc.
Any student identified as having been a participant in any inappropriate behavior will not be permitted to
participate in the graduation ceremony and the diploma will be withheld for a period of one year.
Parents/Guardians and Seniors – Please sign the enclosed form and return it to the Main Office by Friday, May
30th.
Media Release for Graduation Video
As we have done in the past, a professional will be videotaping the Graduation Ceremony at Sun National
Bank Center on June 24th. The video will be broadcast on Channel 19 throughout the summer and will
also be available for purchase, should you be interested.
We must have a Media Release form signed by the parent or guardian of every senior, if they are to be
included in the video. I would think every senior would want to be part of this video and keep a copy as a
memento of this important day.
Please sign the enclosed form and return it to the Main Office by
Friday, May 29th.
This form must be returned to the Main Office no later than Friday, May 29th.
