It is the policy of the District Board of Trustees to grant up to 6 credits of tuition-free registration for State of Florida employees each term on a space-available basis. Spaceavailable is defined as seats unfilled in the preset maximum class size on the last day of the add/drop enrollment period. This tuition waiver program applies to enrollments in college credit and vocational credit programs which result in a degree, vocational certificate or applied technology diploma. Continuing workforce education, continuing education and courses taught on a contract basis are not eligible for this program. This tuition waiver may not be used for any course being taken for a third or subsequent attempt.

For purposes of this policy, employees of the state include employees of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of state government, except for persons employed by a state university.

To access up to 6 credits tuition free, the state employee will:

1.

Complete all admissions requirements, including the Application for Admission, placement testing, transcripts, proof of prerequisites, proof of residency, etc.

2.

Pay lab fees.

3.

Complete the State Employee Tuition Waiver Program- Intent to Apply form.

This form is available through the office of the Registrar. The form must be signed by the employee and the employee’s supervisor.

4.

Proof of state employment will be verified by the Registrar’s Office through information provided by the Florida Department of Financial Services at https://flair.dbf.state.fl.us/. Employment must be verified each term. If verification is not available, the student will be responsible for tuition and fees.

5.

The Intent to Apply form must be completed and submitted to the Registrar’s

Office three weeks prior to the registration date for student’s utilizing the state employee tuition waiver. Forms will not be accepted after that date.

6.

Space availability will be determined by the Registrar and appropriate Dean on or before the last day of the drop/add period. (Availability may be determined before the last day of drop/add if the course is full.)

Students must meet with an academic advisor to complete the registration form.

Students must bring the completed registration form to the Registrar’s office on the last day of drop/add prior to the deadline for registration to ascertain if a space is available. If space is available, all lab fees must be paid by the deadline for payment of fees. If lab fees are not paid by the deadline for payment of fees, the student will be dropped from the class and may not use the tuition waiver for the class during that term.

9.

Tuition waiver is for the current term of registration only. It is not retroactive.

10.

Tuition waivers may not be used for a course being taken for a third or subsequent attempt or for a course offered as part of a limited access program. Continuing workforce education, continuing education and courses taught on a contract basis are not eligible for this program. Tuition waivers may not be used for any class for which the student has already registered prior to the designated date for state employee tuition waiver registration.

11.

The College reserves the right to cancel any class.
