Where can I find current accurate information about tuition at any of the
University of Hawai‘i campuses?
The recently approved tuition rates for Pacific Islander students will take effect for NEW students in Fall 2007.
Updated information and links for Pacific Islanders who currently attend, or new students would like to attend one of
the campuses of the University of Hawai‘i can be found on the University of Hawai‘i System Office of International
Education website: http://www.hawaii.edu/oie/
How much will the tuition be at the UH campuses?
Beginning in Fall 2007, NEW students from an eligible Pacific Island district, commonwealth, territory, or insular
jurisdiction, state, or nation that provides no public higher education institution granting baccalaureate degrees are
permitted to pay 150% of the Hawai‘i resident tuition rate. (Note: Many students of Pacific Island descent living in
Hawaii are actually already Hawai‘i residents, and may be eligible to pay the Hawai‘i resident tuition rate.) See
charts below.
What if I’m currently a UH student?
Current students enrolled in a program of study as either part-time or full-time students at any UH campus will
continue to be afforded the privilege of paying resident tuition rates until graduation, providing they are continuously
enrolled.
How can I determine if I am a Hawai‘i resident for tuition purposes?
Detailed information about residency requirements can be found on the UH website:
http://www.hawaii.edu/academics/admissions/sysapp06.pdf

Yes! There are scholarships and other financial aid available!

financial aid to Pacific Islander students to cover the 50% increase in tuition. Students must first complete and
submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to show financial need. To access the application, go
to: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Other scholarships are available; these are listed separately. Information and applications are available through the
University of Hawaii Foundation. Go to: http://www.uhf.hawaii.edu/scholarships/studentscholarships.aspx or the
Financial Aid Office at the UH campus to which you are applying.
Additional financial resources may be available at individual UH campuses. Contact the Financial Aid Director at
