Distinguished Alumni Award
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering presents an annual award to a
distinguished alumnus/alumna. The winner is selected by the department’s Professional
Advisory Board at the fall meeting. Current members of the Professional Advisory Board may
not be nominated. Nominations are due by September 1st of each year, and should be sent to:

Nominations may be accompanied by other supporting materials such as a resume, published
articles, etc. Awards will be presented in spring of the following year, usually at the department’s
Annual Alumni Dinner.

Qualification Criteria
Graduate of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, MSU. Please list all
of the candidate’s degree(s) and graduation date(s).
Professional experience. Please provide a short listing of the candidate’s experience (or attach
resume).
Selection Criteria
Is recognized as a national leader in his or her chosen profession. Please provide validation.
Has contributed in some meaningful way to the Department of Civil and Environmental
Engineering at MSU, the College of Engineering and/or Michigan State University. Please
provide validation.
Is recognized as a leader in the community and has acted in private life in ways that reflect
credit to the individual, to the community, and to Michigan State University. Please provide
validation.
