DEFINITIONS
State: The State of Wisconsin and all its agencies and University of Wisconsin (UW) System
campuses.
Agencies: All State departments, boards and commissions, excluding University campuses.
University: The UW System and all its campuses and offices.
Campuses: University campuses as distinct from State agencies. There are a total of 26
University campuses, 13 four-year campuses and 13 two-year campuses, employing 28,000
faculty and staff.
Official State Business: Any person doing business on behalf of the State/University, including
both state and non-state employees that qualify for travel reimbursement from the
State/University.
