Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Minority Scientist Project
Objective: Each student will research and prepare a project that shows critical
information about a specific Earthquake event, a Volcano eruption and a biography of a
minority scientist. This project is designed to make each student familiar with the
research process and learning more about seismic activities. The minority scientist piece
is in observation of Black history month.
Each student is to gather the following information and include it in their project.
Earthquakes: Where did it happen? When? How much damage was caused? What
fault line is responsible for the Earthquake? Was there any loss of life? Of course you
may include any pertinent information to your topic. Pictures?
Volcanoes: Where did it take place? How long was the volcano dormant before it
erupted? How much damage did it cause? Was the eruption expected? How many lives
were lost? What permanent damage did it do? You may include any information
pertinent to your topic. Pictures?
Minority Scientist: A biographical history of the scientist. What was he/she famous
for? What significant scientific discovery/work did they do? What shaped the scientist’s
character? You may include any pertinent information about your scientist. Pictures?
Inventions?
