PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
A master’s program that specifically prepares
students for PH.D. Programs in the areas of physics,
chemistry, biology or other science disciplines who
are motivated but lack course work, training and/or
research experience. The program is fully funded
and includes tuition, monthly stipend, and health
insurance.

This program provides research and academic
preparation to students from minority groups and
economically-disadvantaged backgrounds to prepare
them for PhD programs in the biological and
biomedical sciences. Individuals in non-biology
majors or with limited academic or research
opportunities are encouraged to apply. Students
receive competitive salaries. Tuition for MIT classes
and health insurance are provided.

This program provides an intensive research,
coursework, and mentoring experience to scholars
from ethnic groups that have been historically
underrepresented in the natural sciences. The
program seeks to enhance participants' candidacy
for acceptance to Ph.D. programs. Participants are
awarded full-time salaried positions ($33,050/year)
and are given $1,500 educational discretionary
funding. Tuition for Columbia classes and University
benefits including health insurance, transit
reimbursement, retirement, etc. are provided.

including law, education and PhD programs. The
Northwestern University certificate is a credential
that will enable you to stand out in your
application for advanced study.

Writers who are serious about their craft can
create a custom course of study to prepare for
graduate programs in creative writing. In this postbaccalaureate certificate program, you hone your
craft, formalize your training, and build a solid
portfolio of work for application to MFA and
MA/PhD programs in writing.

The program is a two-semester post-baccalaureate
fellowship program for up to nine fellows. The
point of the HMBP is to bridge the gap between an
undergraduate degree and a graduate training
program, and to help individuals prepare
themselves for a successful program of doctoral
studies. Each fellow will be matched with a faculty
mentor/advisor and a graduate student mentor in
his or her academic field. Fellows will enroll in a
fulltime load of up to 12 graduate or upperdivision undergraduate credits (a minimum of 9
credits) per term.

The NIH offers grants to domestic, public, private,
and research universities with strong Ph.D.
programs. The universities hire
applicants(minority and underrepresented
students) as research associates, and students
work in research labs gaining valuable experience
before applying for a research doctorate. An
undergraduate degree in the biomedical sciences
is required, as well as the desire to pursue a
research doctorate in the biomedical sciences.

program to Ph.D. program and is intended for
undergraduate students who wish to pursue a
Ph.D. without delay. Students apply for the
masters program, and apply for the bridge at the
