Guidelines for International Student Scholarships of National University of Tainan 1. The guidelines of the International Student Scholarships of National University of Tainan (NUTN) are established to provide the scholarships and awards information for the prospective international students. 2. Application Deadline (1) International First-time Student to NUTN Scholarship: The periods of application are from Jan 1 to Apr 10 for the first period and Sep 1 to Oct 31 for the second period. (2) NUTN Enrollment International Student: Full-time international undergraduate students can submit their application forms to the Transcript Section, while graduate students can submit their application forms to the Graduate Academic Affairs Section by August 15 for the first period and February 10 for the second period. 3. Eligibility (1) Those not granted scholarships from Taiwan or any other governments are eligible for this scholarship. (2) International students who are admitted to one of the degree programs of NUTN, excluding exchange students and non-degree students, can apply for the scholarships. (3) Continuing international students must meet the following requirements: The GPA for the previous academic year must be 75 or above for graduate students and 65 or above for undergraduate students. (Senior graduate students without course load can submit research papers for evaluation.) The award recipients must not have received any major demerits. 4. Content of scholarships (1) Both full and partial scholarships are available. The limited positions can only be awarded by the individual department. Generally, each department can provide one position for full scholarship and one position for partial scholarship. The number of recipients and the amount of scholarship are depended upon the NUTN’s fund accordingly. (2) Full scholarship includes (a) Registration fee waivers (including internet access fee and student insurance fee). (b) Free dormitory will be arranged by the University. (c) The monthly stipend is NT$6,000 for a undergraduate student, NT$8,000 for a master’s student and NT$10,000 for a doctoral student. The maximum period is 10 months per year. (3) Partial scholarship includes registration fee waivers and free dormitory. 5. Terms of scholarships and restrictions (1) Scholarships are awarded on a year-by-year basis and annual applications are necessary. The maximum term is 4 years for undergraduate students, 2 years for master’s students and 4 years for doctoral students. (2) First-year students can apply for one-year deferral of admission, but the NUTN scholarships can not be reserved. (3) If the recipients apply to other universities during the award year, the scholarships will be terminated. (4) It is required to maintain an adequate attendance record for those scholarship recipients. This award is renewable monthly by evaluating attendance record from the administration. (5) Scholarship will be terminated in the case of suspension, withdrawal, transfer, or graduation, or if the recipient does not meet the GPA requirement. 6. Termination (1) The scholarship award recipients get a written reprimand or more severe penalty from NUTN as a result of misconduct in the award year, the award will be terminated in the following month after the penalty is finalized. (2) If scholarship award recipients are confirmed any violation or falsify, the scholarship will be terminated immediately, and the amount received in violation of the above code will be reclaimed. 7. Review Committee The International Student Scholarships Review Committee is composed of the President, Vice President, Dean of Academic Affairs, deans of colleges, and chairpersons of the departments. The Committee will review the applications and make decisions on the final list. 8. Related issues not specified in the Guidelines are subject to the governance of other related regulations or laws of the University.
