GENERAL PRESENTATION:
The Myanmar Medical Association (MMA) is the only professional body of medically
qualified doctors in Myanmar. It is a non-government organization, founded in 1949 and
operates on its own budget, generated from its activities and membership fees. MMA, among
other functions (viz: promoting the advances in Medical Science; safeguarding the honour
and dignity of the medical profession; maintaining a higher ethical standard among the
medical profession etc.), is also involved with project activities funded by relevant PR(s), in
supporting the promotion of Health, along with the National Health Care Program.
Since 2000, cooperating with WHO and VBDC, under the empowering of Ministry of Health
(MOH), the Quality Diagnosis and Standard Treatment of Malaria (QDSTM) project was
born. MMA’s QDSTM project aims to provide quality assured diagnosis and treatment of
malaria by the private medical general practitioners (GPs) in selected townships. That has
empowered 240 general practitioners in 58 townships. In addition to the services through
general practitioners, the fourteen fixed clinics are established in Yatsauk (Southern Shan
State), Namatu (Northern Shan State), Homalin (Sagaing Division), Ann (Rakhine State),
Ingabu (Ayeyarwaddy Division), Yayphyu (Tanintharyi Division), Sintku (Mandalay
Division), Taunggup (Rakhine State), Ngape (Magway Division), Palatwa (Chin State),
Thabeikkyin (Mandalay Division), Mabein (Northern Shan State), Banmauk (Sagaing
Division) and Beelin (Mon State) where malaria is highly endemic and access to health
services is very limited.

MAIN DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED
Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Supervisor and Project Manager (MMA-Malaria),
the incumbent performs the following duties:
Terms of Reference
1. In charge of fixed/mobile clinic, he/she deliver malaria control services, including
prevention and treatment of common health problems.
2. By developing social networking with respective township health correspondent,
together with township VBDC, local authorities, trade personnel, vendors and
partners, organize and setting up QDSTM clinics and activities.
3. Ensure linkage and collaboration with the local authorities, TMO, Basic Health
Staff, NGOs and CBOs working in the area.
4. Having update malaria and advocate the principle of quality diagnosis and
standard treatment malaria at township level.
5. Conduction health education session and vender education session at villages and
township level.
6. Planning for fixed and mobile clinic.
7. Provision of basic medical care (both fixed clinic and mobile clinic) to the
community especially malaria case management.
8. Procurement of necessary drugs and office utility.
9. Supervision and monitoring in data collection, data entry and record keeping.
10. Supervision and management of ground stock, fixed clinic stock, mobile clinic
stock and volunteer stock.
11. Supporting, Supervision and Monitoring of malaria volunteers.
12. Reporting: Technical report, Financial report and Ground Stock report.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, ETC.
Knowledge &
1. Sound knowledge of the epidemiology, prevention and control

of malaria.
2. Must be knowledge on the use of computer and softwares such
as MS Office.
3. Good leadership, coordination skills, and can communicate
effectively in English language.
Education &
1. Medical degree with valid registration (SAMA) with relevant

2. MMA Membership.
Competencies
1.
Having leadership skill, conceptual skill and managerial skill
pertaining to project management framework and process is
essential.

Ability to demonstrate initiative and commitment in completing
work plan on schedule.

backgrounds.

Required sound communication skill with strong initiative mind
and coordination skill.
5.
Having update in diagnosis and treatment of malaria being
coherent with National Malaria Policy and latest guideline is
required.
Experience
1. Must have 1 year experience in Primary Health Care service
and training of health staff on malaria prevention and control.
2. Must be willing to travel to remote areas in the country where
malaria control activities are being implemented.
Languages

High level proficiency in English.
