The Physiotherapy Clinician is a role within Domiciliary Care and is accountable to the Team Leader Client Service Area for:

providing high quality clinical services to clients and carers with complex needs within the Client
Service Area Team.

working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and, undertakes referrals working with limited direction.

participating in project work as required and contributing to the ongoing improvement of Domiciliary
Care services.


Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a Background Screening and National
Criminal History Record Check (NCHRC) prior to being employed and every three years.

Current drivers licence and a willingness to drive is essential

May be required to travel or work across and/or be located at any of the Domiciliary Care locations

Some out of hours work may be required

Will be required to participate in performance management planning and clinical supervision

A flexible approach to the taking of leave is required

A degree or other qualification which gives eligibility for registration as a Physiotherapist within South
Australia.

Clinical Services

Respond to physiotherapy referrals and, in conjunction with the client and referrer, provide clinical
assessment and intervention planning, direct provision of physiotherapy services and, evaluation of
client outcomes.

Perform timely, effective and efficient clinical services with minimal professional direction.

Formulate, ensure implementation of and, review clinical activities performed by Personal Support
staff, including Paramedical Aides, as part of the client’s therapeutic program.

Utilise effective prioritisation and workload management strategies to maintain responsive client
service delivery practice.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to plan, develop and implement individualised therapy
interventions and provide recommendations to service providers, including Service Coordinators and
Key Contacts, relating to client and carer need and service options.

Represent clients by advocating for and on their behalf.

Demonstrate respectful practices including supporting client confidentiality, advising clients and their
carers of their rights and responsibilities.

Actively involve clients and their carers in the clinical assessment, development of goals and
intervention planning and review.

Maintain accurate and up to date information in client files by documenting all assessments,
interventions and outcomes.

Undertake hazard assessments and ensure appropriate documentation of service care plans to
promote staff safety in the provision of services.

Tailor clinical interventions to maximise benefit to client and carer and oversee cost effective use of
resources.

Work within Domiciliary Care policies and procedures and targets.

Support the supervision of Physiotherapy undergraduate students.

Act as a resource to other staff.

Assist in orientation and training to designated staff in the Client Service Area at the direction of the
Team Leader.

Meet Physiotherapy and Domiciliary Care competencies, standards and targets.

Understand and follow work place safety initiatives, identify hazards and contribute to a safe working
environment, as well as following procedures to manage and minimise risks within the DFC.

Follow the principles of a sustainable working environment by following departmental greening
initiatives.

Model ethical behaviour and practices consistent with SA Government Code of Ethics for Public
Sector Employees and DFC stated values.

Developing Interventions - apply clinical knowledge, reasoning and experience in the delivery of home based services to plan,
develop, implement and evaluate clinical interventions aimed at meeting the identified needs of clients and carers.

Client Services - develop a network of support and community services for clients and carers to inform them of appropriate
service resources and options, and facilitate the development of an appropriate package of services.
