Cardiac anesthesia for valve replacement surgery in Assiut University started
at the beginning of 1988. The frequency of operations at beginning was low
(one patient per week) at that time I was in my late residence period where I
was one of the team of cardiac anesthesia. During the period from 1990 till
1993 I did my MD study Thesis titled (Hemodynamic Changes During
Propofol-Fentanyl Anesthesia in Patients Undergoing Mitral or Aortic Valve
Replacement) which was done on 40 patients. Later on by 1995 the
operations of open heart surgery became to be frequent (two lists per week)
during that period I continued to be one of the team of cardiac anesthesia. At
the beginning of 1999 anesthesia for open heart surgery for congenital heart
3
diseases (tetra logy of Fallots, VSD, ASD, and pulmonary stenosis) started.
From that time I was the director of that list till February 2003.
During the period from May 2001 till August 2001 I spent this three month
period in the department of cardiac anesthesia in Cleveland Clinic
Foundation in USA. I spent this period as an observer for anesthesia in both
the pediatric congenital and the adult CABG or valvular open heart surgery.

hospital since Its beginning around 2006
- I was the one who begin the program of cardiac anesthesia for pediatric
congenital heart diseases in King Abdul Aziz university since its beginning
2011. At that time I did different complex and difficult cases in this speciality
like Glen, Fontan, and double outlet left heart syndrome….etc.
-I continued to work in the program of cardiac anesthesia in king Abdul Aziz
university till end of my contract June 2015
At 8 of August I returned back to my job in Assiut university hospital as a
professor and consultant of anesthesia
From that time I am working as a supervisor to the general ICU and joined
my job as the director of cardiac anesthesia program

tracheal intubation and sternotomy in patients undergoing valve replacement
surgery
