William Fletcher School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Many of you will be aware that we had an Ofsted inspection this
week, thank you to all parent and carers who completed the questionnaire
and spoke to the inspectors. Thank you also to the whole staff team, school
governors and of course our wonderful children.
We will be able to share the outcome of the inspection after the Easter
holidays, when we receive the formal report.
Thank you to all the children who participated in Red Nose Day. Everyone
made a great effort dressing up and the school managed to raise £163.
Last Thursday Mrs Phillips took a team of girls from Year 3, 4 & 6 to
represent our school at The Headington Girls Cross Country race. Well
done to all the girls who ran fantastically well and were great ambassadors
for our school. Thank you to Mrs Phillips, Mrs Morris and Mrs BridgesMartin for transporting and supporting the children.
On Tuesday some pupils from Years 5 and 6 went to represent our school
at the Oxfordshire Indoor Athletics Finals. The children performed to a
really high standard and achieved a well deserved 6th place. Well done to all
children who took part and thank you to Mr Lister and Mr Pring for taking
the children to this event.
Year 1 & Year 2 are holding a cake sale on Monday 25th March in the hall
after school. Please can children remember to bring in some loose change
so they can buy a cake if they wish.
Best wishes
Deborah Nind & the William Fletcher team

week’s Friday assembly:

Mrs Phillips – Running the London Marathon!
Mrs Phillips is running the London Marathon on 21st April 2013 (26.2 miles!)
and is raising money for the NSPCC. If you would like to sponsor her,
please go to www.virginmoneygiving.com/CaeronPhillips or speak to Mrs
Phillips direct. Every donation or message of support would be very
gratefully received!
Sickness or Diarrhoea
There have been cases of sickness and diarrhoea within the school recently.
Please note the recommended period for your child to be kept away from
school is 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea. This will
help stop the spread of infection to other children.
Raising Concerns
If you have any concerns regarding your child at school please do come and
talk to your child’s teacher so that we can solve issues before they become
problems. If you are unable to speak to your child’s class teacher do please
speak to Mrs Nind.
Sainsbury’s and Tesco Vouchers
The Sainsbury’s voucher scheme has just started and the Tesco voucher
scheme will be starting soon. We will be collecting the vouchers which we
use to purchase equipment for the school. When you have any of these
vouchers please hand them into the office where they will be counted!

Chess Club
Today will be the last chess club this term and we will finish the school
tournament which decides who qualifies for the Mega final on 4th May. The
best boy and girl in each year will automatically qualify. There is also
another chance to qualify through the “last chance” tournament on 13 th
April. This will be at Magdalen College School from 9.30am to
approximately 3.30pm. All those who have played team chess this year
would have a good chance to qualify. Last year several children did well
enough in the Mega final to qualify for the Giga final later in the year. Well
done to Marielle Lee who played for Oxfordshire last weekend, helping the
team that qualified for the national county championship.
