Week of October 13, 2015
Circle Time: Calendar Math (October pattern—AAAB, weekdays/weekends, counting, place
value , math fluency practice, oral language development, large motor skills with
song/dance, letter of the day, phonemic awareness lesson
Read Aloud: Community Helpers
Language Arts
Tuesday 10/13
Large Group: Review letters A, T, S, sounds using Project Read. Complete a bubble map on
community helpers.
Literacy Centers:
1. Columbus Day Emergent Reader (vocab= journey, explorer)
2. Letter uppercase and lowercase match
3. Tracing and writing letter Ss and finding words that begin with the Ss sound
4. Independent Centers –
a. Journal Page- Students use their own creativity to draw a picture. Students will
dictate a sentence to the teacher or try to label parts of the picture using
vocabulary cards.
b. Listening Center – Letter Sounds from Lakeshore
c. Letter Matching puzzles- Students match capital letter to lowercase letter
d. Letter Sound Matching game from Lakeshore
e. Computer – Lexia
Wednesday 10/14
Large Group: Read a book on Community Helpers asking and answering questions about the
text. Community Helper Power point.
Literacy Centers:
1. CVC word Picture Clue game
2. Beginning Sound folder game
3. Review A,T,S words with cut and paste
4. Independent Centers –
a. Journal Page- Students use their own creativity to draw a picture. Students will
dictate a sentence to the teacher or try to label parts of the picture using
vocabulary cards.
