Function details: The Director Diagnostic Biostatistics leads the data management and analyses
activities with the aim of organizing and analyzing clinical information that forms the outcomes
database from which key data is obtained to be included in the company’s diagnostic services. (S)he
leads the efforts in new disease areas for obtaining, processing and analyzing clinical data to be
used within the Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area for advancing Tibotec - Virco’s
understanding, positioning and future diagnostic - clinical strategies in the field.
Expectations for this role include:

Use already developed bio-statistical modeling tools that serve as basis for the company's
diagnostic offering in a routine basis and address improvements and updates.
Serve as point of contact for questions relating to database collaboration operationalization
issues; liaise with appropriate team members as needed.
Lead initiatives in the drafting of abstracts and manuscripts on relevant research topics.
Provide leadership and guidance to the team in charge of clinical outcome data.
Work with the diagnostic laboratory to ensure that analyses of data and information necessary
for the functioning of the laboratory takes place and is adequately prioritized.

Provide bio-statistical expertise as needed in projects geared at developing companion
diagnostics for different therapeutic products.
Be a key contributor to the strategy on outcome data gathering and utilization.
Provide leadership in maximizing the utilization of available data resources and converting into
clinically meaningful information.
Education and qualifications:
•

PhD (or equivalent through extra experience) in Biostatistics/Mathematics or related fields (e.g.
Epidemiology, Public Health).
Work or educational experience in life sciences/biological sciences is required.
Laboratory/industry or research experience in infectious diseases [including virology (required),
preferably HIV and hepatitis C]:
 5 years post-doc experience for PhD level applicants
 10 years experience for non-PhD level applicants.
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
Able to translate high level targets into clear and tangible targets for the team(members).
Above average technical skills (SAS, regression modeling, data mining, data management, …)
and scientific knowledge.
