RE: ANNUAL U.K. UNIVERSITY FAIR
Dear University Representative,
Premier Academy is proud to inform you that it will be hosting a U.K. University group visit
over a three day period in September, 2010 to allow students from Premier and other similar
schools to discuss their career and university choices with representatives from universities
often selected by students. Our choice of invitees amongst the UK universities reflects the range
of interests indicated by Premier students and those students from other schools.
I would like to invite your university to participate by sending a representative to this event,
which allows universities a specific opportunity to meet with prospective students from several
of the main schools in the community in a school setting.
This year we have scheduled the event to run from Thursday 9th September through to Saturday
11th September, 2010. The Thursday and Friday sessions will be open to Premier students and
those from other invited schools (Peponi Secondary, Aga Khan Academy, Brookhouse,
Braeburn, Nairobi Academy, St. Mary’s, St. Andrew’s Turi, Hillcrest School, the two Oshwal
schools, St. Austin’s, Greensteds, St. Christopher’s, Imani and International School of Kenya)
while the Saturday session will be open to school party visits as well as the general public (with
a particular emphasis on those interested in postgraduate study options attending on this day).
The event will again be organised in cooperation with the schools mentioned above, and the
timing of the event in September should help to minimise the disruption to schools that
individual visits by university representatives tends to cause.
We plan to follow the same itinerary as used in previous years, whereby the emphasis is placed
on course-based seminars, followed by individual consultations within the fair-style setting of
the hall. It is hoped that we can provide students with appropriate range of opportunities to find
out more about various academic courses from seminars run by subject specialists. For
Thursday and Friday we will have the following itinerary:
Session 1:
9.00 – 10.00
A choice from several seminars on individual disciplines or
Aspects of university application, e.g. law, medicine,
engineering, or how to approach the personal statement on the
UCAS form.
……/1
Session 2:
10.00 - 12.30
12.30 - 1.30
1.30 - 2.30
2.30 - 3.30
Education fair stalls in the hall for individual consultations
LUNCH
2nd lecture series on individual disciplines
Education fair stalls in the hall for individual consultations
In this way we hope that you would have the opportunity to deal with general issues as well as
plenty of time for discussion with individuals. Saturday will provide time for individual
consultations, with parents being able to visit with their children.
Premier will be pleased to transport visitors to and from the venue to their accommodation each
day. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea will be provided by the school each day. In addition,
Premier will host a Cocktail / Dinner evening on Friday 10th, to allow a more social gathering
between university representatives and teachers from Premier and other Nairobi schools.
Premier will provide the stalls, tables and chairs for university displays and access to
projectors/video machines. We will also place advertisements in the Kenyan newspapers.
Yours sincerely,
David Kimani
