Dear Parents and Guardians,

RE: PRIMARY JUNIOR LUNCH ROUTINES

In our balanced school day, Primary (Grades 1-3) and Junior (Grades 4-6) students will have two nutrition/recess breaks per day, the first at 10:40-11:20 and the second at 1:00-1:50. All students will remain at school for the first break. Students may go home for lunch during the second nutrition break , or stay at school.

GOING HOME FOR LUNCH

Students going home for lunch every day will be dismissed from their classrooms at 1:00, and they must be back for the final teaching block no later than 1:45. Students should go to their designated yard upon their return to school.

If your child wishes to leave on an occasional basis, he/she must be signed out in the office by a parent/guardian.

Other adults wishing to sign out a child must provide a note signed by the parent/guardian.

Please note: telephone permission is not possible nor do primary and junior students have the option of signing out in order to have lunch in the community without adult supervision .

STAYING AT SCHOOL FOR LUNCH

Students who stay at school for nutrition/recess breaks will eat in their classrooms for the first 20 minutes of the break and then go outside for recess in their designated play yard where teacher supervision is provided.

Students must come dressed appropriately for the weather. Only in case of extremely heavy rain, or severe cold, will the children have indoor breaks.

Early in the school year, please send an activity that your child would like to do over lunch in case of inclement weather. Games, activity books, colouring books and crayons, chess/checkers set, decks of cards are appropriate. These items must be clearly marked with your child's name, and will be stored in the classroom.

As it is a constant challenge to keep lunch boxes and containers in the hands of their "owners", these items must be identified with your child's name. Lost food containers are put in the school’s Lost and Found box.

Students and parents should check there for missing items.

Please complete the form below to indicate which option you will be choosing for your child, and return it to the classroom teacher by Friday, September 10 th , 2010.
