Dear Girls and Parents
Thank you for expressing an interest in the International Day Event for Essex West. The event
will focus on International activities and International Guiding.
The event is open to Guide or Senior Section members (inc YL’s) who will be 14 by 1st July
2016.
The weekend will be at:
Squirrel Lodge, Thriftwood Campsite, Orchard Avenue, Brentwood. CM13 2DP.
From 10am til 4pm on Saturday 13th of September 2015.
As part of this weekend we are able to offer places to 4 of the attendees to attend a weekend
in London on the 23rd of October to the 25th of October. This weekend offers the girls the
chance to be chosen for an International Trip to take place next summer, 2016. Attendance
at this weekend is required for consideration for Region trips.
Trips in the last few years have been to Mexico, Switzerland, Peru, India, Japan, New
Zealand, and Denmark. With costs ranging from £1500 to £2500, you are able to fundraise to
fund the trip which girls have successfully managed to do over the past few years.
If you are unable to attend the October weekend you are more than welcome to attend the
Essex one but please let us know if you cannot make the Region weekend.
The Region event will select girls for a certain trip, (you will be asked for preferences at the
weekend) –If you are not interested in the trip you are offered, you will not be able to swap
your place for one on another trip that interests you more. If you do not wish to take up the
trip you have been offered then you will forfeit your place.
For the weekend you will need to wear uniform – although camp wear is fine as we will be
doing outdoor activities.
Shoes – trainers/boots must be worn
Plate bag – containing non breakable plate, cup and bowl, knife, fork and spoon.
Weather appropriate clothing – so sun hat/cream, wet weather gear.

We have 16 places and they will be offered on a first come first served basis.
