Orleans school has jointly developed with parents a school parent compact that
will be renewed during parent conferences.
RESPONSIBILITY OF ORLEANS ELEMENTARY
Principal Agreement
I support this form of parental involvement. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:
 Provide a safe environment that allows positive communication between the teacher, parent, and
student.
 Encourage teachers to regularly provide homework assignments that will reinforce classroom instruction.
 Encourage teachers to provide feedback to parents through Weekly Progress Reports, Deficiency Notices, Parent/Teacher
Grade Level Meetings, Parent Conferences, and Lesson Line.
 Encourage teachers students, and parents to support the Blue Ribbon Plan.
 Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive learning environment which enables students to meet
state requirements.
 Encourage teachers and students to strive toward high expectations academically, socially, and physically.

Teacher Agreement
It is important that students achieve. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:
 Provide homework assignments for students that reinforces classroom instruction.
 Provide necessary assistance to parents so that they can help with assignments.
 Encourage students and parents by providing frequent information about student progress through Weekly Progress
Reports, Deficiency Notices, Parent/Teacher Grade Level meetings, Parent Conferences, and Lesson Line.
 Use hands-on activities in the classroom to make learning enjoyable.
 Read to students and allow opportunities for students to read daily.
 Encourage parents to volunteer, participate, and observe in their child’s classroom after the school’s Reading Block from
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENT/STUDENT
Parent/Guardian Agreement
(Any person who is interested in helping this student may sign in lieu of the parent.)
I want my child to achieve. Therefore, I will encourage him/her by doing the following:
 See that my child is punctual, exercise good personal hygiene, and attends school regularly.
 Make sure my child has the necessary tools for learning such as crayons, pencil, and paper.
 Support the school in its efforts to maintain proper discipline and support the Blue Ribbon Plan.
 Encourage my child to do well.
 Establish a time for homework, review it regularly, and return it completed.
 Partner with teacher for a better understanding of the school’s curriculum and homework.
 Provide a quiet, well-lit place for study.
 Stay aware of what my child is learning by visiting the school and volunteering in my child’s classroom.
 Communicate with school through conferences, Parent/Teacher Grade Level Meetings, and Lesson Line.
 Provide a library card for my child and opportunities for my child to read.
 Read with my child and let my child see me reading.
 Provide a routine bedtime that gives my child sufficient sleep to function at school.

Student Agreement
It is important that I work to the best of my ability. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:
 Come to school on time and attend regularly.
 Come to school each day with crayons, pencils, paper, and other necessary tools for learning.
 Complete and return homework assignments.
 Observe regular study hours.
 Conform to rules of student conduct and respect others.
 Listen and follow directions the first time given.
 Work through problems with teacher, counselor, and/or principal.
 Take responsibility for my actions and grades,
 Cooperate with others to enhance my learning.
