Mr Chan Yoon Kum is the Senior Advisor of PUB from 1 April 2014. He
reports to the Chief Executive and he assists, in his advisory capacity, the Chief
Executive on the policies, management and operations of the Board. The PUB,
Singapore’s national water agency, provides potable water supply, used water
and drainage services to all in Singapore since April 2001.
Mr Chan helmed the Water Department in 1995 as its Director. He was
appointed the Assistant Chief Executive with the restructuring of PUB in 2004
and subsequently as the Deputy Chief Executive in 2010. Mr Chan stepped
down from his appointment as Deputy Chief Executive upon attaining the age of
62.
Mr Chan joined the then Water Department of PUB in 1977 as an
Engineer with a Civil Engineering degree from the then University of Singapore.
He obtained his Master of Science in 1983. He had also participated in the
INSEAD Executive Programme in France in 1986.
Mr Chan has extensive experience covering the various aspects of water
supply management from policies, engineering to operations and maintenance
of water supply plants and network. He has driven numerous national
programmes and projects on water supply including the National Save Water
Campaign, Desalination and NEWater.
In 2001, Mr Chan received the Public Administration Medal (Silver) and in
2010, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) at the National Day Awards. He
received the Medal of Commendation at the NTUC May Day Award in 2010.
