MATH – MR. IMAMURA
TEAM GREEN 6
Course Description: The Connected Math Program that is used here at Kapolei Middle School is a
hands-on, collaborative, problem-based program. There are strong integrated connections with other
subject areas that help students learn and understand math concepts. Students will be expected to
demonstrate concepts, think critically and creatively, work productively, value themselves positively,
learn effectively, act responsibly, communicate clearly and work cooperatively.
Grading:
Weekly Monday Quizzes (8 points each)
Unit Tests (25 points each)
Homework (1 point each)
Participation & Work Habits (25 points max)
Team Projects (Pending)
Quarter grades will be determined by a percentage of the total points EARNED divided by the total
points POSSIBLE. The semester grade will be an average of the two quarter grades. Weekly grade logs
will be subtotaled and brought home every Tuesday night for parent’s signature. Parent signatures will
be shown to the teacher during Wednesday’s class period (Thursday for Periods 3 & 4). The following
scale will be used to assign letter grades (grades will be rounded off – NOT rounded up).
100% - 90%
89% - 80%
79% - 65%
64% - 50%

Homework: Homework will be given daily. All homework should be done in pencil in a spiral bound
8½ by 11 notebook that is used for math only. If homework is not being done on a regular basis, quiz
scores will suffer tremendously. Homework assignments will all be written in the planner daily. If
students have difficulty on the homework, they are expected to write down specific questions (per
problem). It will then be the student’s responsibility to get those questions answered the following day.
Students then have until quiz day to do revisions & corrections to their homework (this is their late
homework window). Once the quiz is given, a new week starts and further late homework will not be
accepted from the week prior.
Weekly Quizzes: The 8 point quizzes are based from problems that may either be similar to or come
straight from homework from the week prior. Students will be able to use their spiral notebook along
with any corrections or revisions they did.
Grade Logs: Each student will have their own grade log stapled to the back of their notebook where
they record their weekly quiz scores and calculate their percentages. Parents need to sign this grade log
every Tuesday night (Wednesday for Pd 4). Students and parents should discuss these grades weekly.
Materials: The following materials should be brought to class daily: 1 spiral bound notebook, folder
paper, textbook, calculator, pencil, eraser, red correcting pen, completed homework, questions, a good
attitude and an ALERT MIND.
THE TEAHCER DOES NOT GIVE OUT THE GRADE
YOU EARN THE GRADE THAT YOU RECIEVE
RESPECT: Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and I expect nothing short of that from each
and every student. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: If a student has an unexcused absence (cutting), that student does not
have the privilege to make up any missed assignment, quiz or test. Class time is extremely important,
and there is no excuse for truancy.
MAKE-UP QUIZ/TEST: Students have a week to make up quizzes and/or homework due to and
EXCUSED absence. It is the student’s responsibility to take the initiative to find out what was missed.
RULES:
1. All School & Team rules apply at all times.
2. Always ask for permission to leave the classroom at all times. Hall Pass (in planner) is needed to
leave class (detention, loss of privilege).
3. Students will be asked to take off their caps before entering the class. Students must be seated before

5. No card playing or letter writing. Students should not participate in any type of activity that deviates
