Analysis of Parent Questionnaire
Dear Parent / Guardian,
Attached is the analysis of the parental responses following the most recent
questionnaire (November 2015). Thank you very much to all who contributed and
for your advice and suggestions. We use your evaluations to improve and develop
the school’s procedures and are confident that by working together, we can
continue to provide the best education for your child. Congratulations to Mrs
Gnana Antonito who won the £25 vouchers for completing the questionnaire.
You will notice that a high percentage of parents are very satisfied and happy
with the school. The majority of parents strongly agree that their children are
safe at school and that the teaching is good.
Some parents noted their uncertainty regarding the school’s complaints
procedure. In brief, if you have a complaint, contact the class teacher in the
first instance. If you feel that the matter remains unresolved, please do make
the Headteacher aware of your concern. The school’s complaints policy can be
found on the school’s website and is in the school prospectus.
There was some uncertainty amongst a minority of parents regarding receiving
information about your child’s progress. The “Drop In” sessions which are held
on the 1st Monday of every month are an ideal opportunity for you to see the
classteacher without any need for a prior appointment – do use them to come
and talk to your child’s teacher about your child’s progress. We also hold termly
parents evening and if you feel you need to discuss any issues we are always
prepared to meet with parents to discuss concerns.
7% disagreed that the children are well prepared for moving on to the next
school. We work very closely with Ysgol Feithrin Rhydaman and Amman Valley
School to ensure a smooth and happy transition for all pupils and parents. All
pupils from Ysgol Feithrin Rhydaman which transfer to Ysgol Bro Banw, visit the
school in the term before they start. Parents are invited to a presentation
evening with the Foundation Phase coordinator and Headteacher. Year 6 have
transition days at Amman Valley School, and also pupils form Amman Valley
support our after school clubs and DT projects, eg ‘The Formula 1”. Year 6
parents are also invited to visit Amman Valley School in the Summer term. Due
to the infant and junior department being on two different sites, year 2
children have a transition morning at the juniors in the Summer term to become
familiar with the junior site and to meet their new class teacher.
Some believed that there is not a good range of activities including trips and
visits. We use the local community on a regular basis and some children visit
Llangrannog and Pendine yearly. All children visited Folly Farm last term, and the
junior children are going to the cinema this term. The infant department are
going for tea with Santa, whilst the Welsh medium infant stream have had a
theatre show with Fflic and Fflac. Visitors also visit the school on a regular
basis, eg, PC Kev, the nurse, Pastor Jonathan, Spectrum project, Pudsey etc.
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s education at any time, please
contact us immediately.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs Davies
Headteacher
