Parents/Guardians: Please read and discuss with your child the attached classroom guidelines. These are
important factors for your child’s success in my class. Please sign and have your student return it to me.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Course Preparation
1. Students will bring books, paper, pencil, calculator, etc… to every class.
2. Students will complete homework assignments on a daily basis.
3. Students will arrive to class on time and be seated when the tardy bell rings.
4. Students will remain in the classroom on-task unless an emergency arises that requires the students to
leave.
Classroom Outlook
1. Students will respect the authority of class instructor.
2. Students will follow directions promptly.
3. Students will accept responsibility and consequences for classroom behavior.
4. Students will respect the other students in the classroom.
5. Students will respect the property of students and of the class instructor.
Commitment to Learning and Success
1. Students will continually strive for success and higher learning.
2. Students will not prevent others from seeking success and higher learning.
3. Students will display a positive attitude.
Expected Behaviors
1. Please do not talk while the instructor is talking.
2. Please do not talk while other students are asking or answering questions.
3. Please raise your hand to speak during class.
4. Please do not leave your seat without permission.
5. Please leave your seat area clean after class.
6. Please respect the belongings of the instructor and the school. Do not deface or damage any property.
7. Please use common sense when behavior could be questioned.
8. ACADEMIC HONESTY IS EXPECTED FOR ALL CLASSROOM ACTIVITIES. Consequences of
dishonesty will follow the guidelines set forth in the Code of Conduct.
TARDIES
The tardy policy as outlined in the student handbook will be enforced.
ABSENCES
Only students with an EXCUSED ABSENCE will be allowed to make up work missed. It is the responsibility of the
student to get all missed assignments from the class assignments posted daily. If a student misses the day of a test, he
or she will be responsible to make up that test as soon as possible upon return to school. (If a student has missed
several days, he or she must make up the assignments and/or test within a reasonable amount of time.) Unexcused
absences result in a zero for each grade taken that day.
LATE WORK
Students may turn late work in for half credit only. This applies to students who have not been absent, but who do
not have their homework for whatever reason. However, this privilege should not be abused. STUDENTS MUST
COMPLETE ALL ASSIGNMENTS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS COURSE!
CALCULATOR USE
Students need a scientific calculator for this course. The instructor has some for students to use if they forget their
own. Students are responsible for any damages that may occur throughout the semester to any calculator they use.
Students must return calculators to the proper place when finished using it daily.
PHONE USE
The phone in Mrs. Harrison’s room is strictly for her use only for communication with the front office, the
administrators, other teachers, and parents. Students may not use the phone unless they have been given permission
to do so, and it must be an emergency.
LOCKERS/RESTROOM
There is sufficient time between classes to stop at lockers and/or use the restroom. Once the tardy bell rings students
are expected to be in class and remain there on-task until the end of the block. Mrs. Harrison will issue each student
three courtesy hall passes each nine weeks for students to use if they forgot something in their locker or if they need
to go to the restroom during class. Once all courtesy passes are used, students will be allowed to go to the
restroom only for extreme emergencies. Those students will be expected to make-up the class time missed by
serving a lunch detention. Students should make every effort to remain in class so as to not miss instruction nor
interrupt the learning process of others. Hopefully holding students more accountable will cut down on students just
wanting to wander the halls.
I am looking forward to a great semester teaching your child. Please do not hesitate to email me or call me during my
planning period if you would like to check on your child’s grades and/or behavior.
Thanks.
