Course Description: Welcome to World History! World History focuses on teaching skills
necessary to school success while exploring ancient civilizations, medieval, and early modern
times. Students will investigate the history, geography, and society/culture of these areas. Current
events are also incorporated into the course. At the same time, students will practice and refine
social science skills, writing skills, note taking, study habits, test taking, and reading skills. By the
end of the course, students will understand the world in which they live and be better prepared to
succeed in school.

exams are worth 20%.
 Work is considered on time when I collect it. Late work maybe penalized
 Will have the option for test re-take.
 You may have beverages as long as it has a cap to prevent spills.

You will be expected to collaborate/work with others. You will be assigned partners and
expected to follow the norms/rules you have come up with for each other. If you fail to
meet expectations of your partner, you may be required to work individually.
Classroom Norms and Expectations:
 Demonstrate Respect/Removal from class =call home and additional consequences to be
added.
 Come to class prepared-mentally and physically
 You must participate in all activities
 You can have a liquid with a cap on it (SFHS policy)
 All other expectations stated in the SF Parent/Student Handbook apply.
Required Materials: You are responsible for bringing your required materials daily. Please bring
your notebook, folder, and a pen or pencil to class EVERYDAY! You can substitute a folder and
notebook for a binder to organize class handouts. Specifically, you will need a notebook or looseleaf for class journaling or activities. This must be used solely for World History. Bring
something to write with everyday! Also, you can Bring Your Own Device for class use when we
need it. When we do not need it, you are not to be on it. Also, I-pods music must have ear buds.
Attendance/Tardy Policy:
 It is important for you to be in class everyday! If you are absent, please ask me
before/after class what you have missed. Please do not ask me during class. It is YOUR
responsibility to pick up handouts. Ask a fellow classmate for any notes you may have
missed, and you are encouraged to schedule a meeting with me before or after school for
additional information.
 You must have two feet in the door when the bell rings. If you are tardy, you need to
have a pass, or it will be unexcused.
Hall Passes: Because of important announcements and/or instructions, hall passes will not be
given during the last 10 minutes of class. Hall passes constitute leaving the classroom. This will
be the policy for every student unless the student provides special documentation (doctor’s note,
etc). Please use the restroom and go to your locker during passing time. This means you may
need to bring your books for the next class with you if you need to use the restroom and do not
have time for the locker and restroom.
***********************Please return only this bottom portion within three days (this is
considered a homework assignment). ***********************
