Multiplexed single
cell sequencing
– advances in
technology and
applications
Abstract:
As sequencing technologies improve and become more accessible, researchers are faced with novel challenges regarding the use
and analysis of vast amounts of sequence data. Recently, the Yanai laboratory at the Technion Institute of Technology in Israel
has made significant advances towards generating molecular protocols that permit the recovery of single cell transcriptomic
information. I will introduce improvements to the available CelSeq protocol (Hashimshony et al. Cell Reports 2:666-673, 2012)
which will soon be publically available, and address some of the challenges associated with analyzing the resulting datasets. For
illustration purposes I will focus on multi-species comparative analyses, and highlight important factors to be considered when
designing NGS experiments.
