LAYING UP TREASURES
There is great interest in the world in savings
and investment:
1. Factors discussed focuses on security,
growth, and availability.
2. People try to acquire and save what they
value the most.
LAYING UP TREASURES
The word translated “treasure” means wealth
or what we value:
1. It seems to mean what we put first or
value the most.
2. It is referred to as “mammon” in Mt. 6:24.
It is what we crave or seek the most.
3. Therefore we must choose between God
and material things.
LAYING UP TREASURES
“DO NOT LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES
TREASURES ON EARTH.”
1. It is not wrong to desire property to
support one’s family.
2. Jesus tells us to neither love nor seek
earthly treasures.
3. Jesus gives several reasons for not laying
up treasures on earth.
LAYING UP TREASURES
“LAY UP FOR YOURSELVES
TREASURES IN HEAVEN.”
Jesus is telling us to love, seek, trust, or
“hoard” spiritual treasures.
He gives some reasons for “hoarding”
heavenly treasures.

…the truth.
…your influence.
…your body.

WE SHOULD TREASURE
Each person should “treasure”…
…the church.
…your conscience.
…your eternal destiny.
LAYING UP TREASURES
Every person seeks some “treasure.”
Every person serves either an earthly god or
the God of heaven.
Every person is either laying up treasure on
earth or in heaven--not both.
Where are you laying up your treasures?
