Remember that there are a variety of errors that can cause an entry to score a 0 in Performance and/or Independence, as outlined in Modules IX and X. 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI th 8 Grade Science Sample Entry Colleen 19 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI 20 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI Evidence 1 21 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI Evidence 2 22 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI Science Evidence Index 8th Grade Science Entry Entry 2 Standard 5.6 Strand B CPI 5.6.8B1 Near Link: Identify examples of chemical reactions as synthesis and decomposition Rubric Dimension Score Evidence Complexity 3 Evidence reflects the skill(s) of the chosen link Identifying examples of chemical reactions as either synthesis or decomposition (some synthesis and some decomposition are represented across the items) Two distinct activities show evidence of instruction Classifying using a graphic organizer via cut and paste vs. Boardmaker multiple choice activity Performance 0 X Some items on the initial piece of evidence are missing markings for accuracy Independence 0 X Some items on the initial piece of evidence are missing markings for independence 23 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI Sample Entries The following entry is considered unscorable because it does not meet all of the Universal Scoring Rules. USR 8 The link contains two parts: identify the structure AND the function of plant cells. The first piece of evidence assesses identifying the structure only because each structure’s name is placed in the diagram from the answer bank. The second piece of evidence assesses identifying only the function by matching the organelle to its function. Since the first piece of evidence assesses part of the link and the final piece of evidence assesses a different part of link, this entry is unscorable and receives the LA-D code. 29 2014-2015 NJ APA Teacher Training – Module XI
