Dear Colleagues,
GENERAL INFORMATION
Open Partial Horizontal Laryngectomies (OPHL) and Transoral Laser Microsurgery (TLM) are
currently the best procedures in the treatment of larynx cancer. These two surgical procedures
allow to obtain excellent treatment results in about 90% of patients with laryngeal cancer.
Laryngologists today, therefore, need to be acquainted with these practices if they are to provide
patients with the best treatment. Given that there are specific indications for both procedures, the
purpose of the meeting is to reach consensus on which is the most appropriate choice. Hence the
decision to organize a meeting with some of the most renowned Italian and foreign laryngologists,
whom I thank for accepting my invitation. I am particularly grateful to Prof. Antonelli,
Prof. Chiesa and Prof. Steiner, who will be accompanying us in this activity with acknowledged
expertise, soundness and culture. The venue is particularly impressive as, in the Middle Ages, it
was one of the most important castles in the Veneto region.
