 The Stalag IIID is located in Landweg/Ecke
Osdorferstraße in Berlin Germany (approximately 1
km from the Lichterfelde-Süd S-Bahn)

When was it established
 The Stalag III-D was established in Berlin on August
1940 and there was no date specified for the date
that the POW camp was shut down but it wasn’t
shut down until after WWII ended
Where were the prisoners that were held
in this camp from?
 The countries that prisoners held there were from
are Belgium, Great Britain, France, Yugoslavia, The
Soviet Union, Poland, USA, Italy and Czechoslovakia.
How many prisoners were in this camp at
any given time?
 The maximum capacity of this camp was 58,000
people.
How were the prisoners treated?
 Prisoners of war camps in Germany were generally
treated well compared to other countries
 The prisoners were given medical treatment if they
needed it
 The Stalag camps usually followed the guidelines of
the Geneva conventions which meant they had to
be humanly treated and protected against acts of
violence
What chance did prisoners have of
surviving?
 The majority of Stalag III prisoners in various camps
died. They were mostly either starved to death or
died of a disease.
Albert Mullard
 At the age of 21 Albert Mullard, and English solider,
was captured in the battle of Crete. He was a
marine and fought in Germany. He was taken to
Stalag IIID before being transferred to Stalag IIIA.
