Action against melasma of Pinus Pinaster Extract
Standardized
perties extract of the bark of the French maritime pine (Pinus pinaster),
a
wellknown potent antioxidant.
Thirty women with melasma completed a 30-day clinical trial in which they took 75 mg
per day. These patients were evaluated clinically by parameters such as the melasma area
index. After a 30-day treatment, the average melasma area of the patients decreased by
25.86 ± 20.39 mm2
effective rate was 80%. No side effect was observed. The results of the blood and urine
test parameters at baseline and at day 30 were within the normal range.

Action against photoaging of Pinus Pinaster Extract
A
significant decrease in clinical grading of skin photoaging scores was observed in both

time courses of 100 mg daily and 40 mg daily PBE supplementation regimens.
A significant reduction in the pigmentation of age spots was also demonstrated utilizing
skin color measurements.
Oral administration of French maritime Pine Bark Extract effectively reduces facial
symptoms of photoaging. Long-term administration of PBE is safe and useful for
improving the appearance of photodamaged facial skin.
