in the late 1980s
Eye Instruments & Equipment
added shortly after
SL shared with other NGOs at
Partnership Committee in 1990.
Global S.L. created for PC Members
1995 (approx) - ICEH took over
responsibility for updating,
publishing & distribution

The meeting stated that there were 3 elements to

1. Development of appropriate equipment and making it

• First edition was an exact copy of the CBM SL
• Technology WG ensured the accuracy and revamped the content
• CBM and Sightsavers merged their respective lists to correspond with
V2020 SL
• Focus was always on District Level
• Field testing of new equipment introduced – Gold Standard
