Planeta, a leading winemaker for both Italian and international markets, has a strong presence in Sicily,
with 370 hectares of proprietary vineyards and five wineries located in different areas of the region.
A Journey in Sicily is the fruit of the Planeta family's desire to open their wineries and areas to the public,
revealing an authentic snapshot of Sicily through its wines and winewine- growing areas.

Each Planeta winery boasts a unique history and features. Ulmo is Planeta's historical estate on the shores
of Lake Arancio; Buonivini winery is characterized by an eco-friendly atmosphere and the amazing
‘‘invisible winery’’; Dorilli winery is deeply linked to the history of South-East viticulture with its
production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria D.O.C.G., where visitors can attend cooking classes in the gorgeous
restored farmhouse; Sciara Nuova is the hospitality venue of Planeta on Mt. Etna’s volcanic lands with
nearby Feudo di Mezzo winery.
On request, you can visit the Dispensa winery at Menfi, the firm's productive heart, and the olive grove in
Contrada Capparrina, with its landscape of rare natural beauty.

Wineries
ULMO - Sambuca di Sicilia (AG)
Located near the village of Sambuca di Sicilia, on the shores of Lake Arancio, Ulmo was the first Planeta winery,
opened in 1995. Here, we produce the Alastro, Chardonnay, Plumbago, Merlot and Syrah, all from the
surrounding vineyards. An ancient 16th-century baglio, or stone farmhouse, overlooks the estate which is also
home to the Iter Vitis open-air museum dedicated to the history of the Sicilian viticulture. The La Segreta nature
trail offers three possible walks through the vineyards, allowing visitors to discover wild spots and unique
landscapes.
BUONIVINI - Noto (SR)
Located near the late Baroque UNESCO World Heritage towns of Noto and Modica, the Buonivini winery takes its
name from the ancient district where it is located. The Nero d'Avola and Moscato Bianco grapes used to make
our Santa Cecilia D.O.C. Noto, Passito di Noto D.O.C. and Moscato di Noto D.O.C. wines are grown here. At this
estate, the Planeta family has taken an eco-friendly approach to the renovation: a few meters away from
vineyards, it is possible to stay in Case Sparse. These are small red-painted lodgings renovated in keeping with
local traditions and furnished with Costanza Algranti’s creations, all made from recycled materials.
DORILLI - Vittoria (RG)
The Dorilli winery was built by Planeta to create a hospitality venue, restoring and recovering an ancient wine
cellar and the adjacent farmhouse dating from the early twentieth century. The vineyards surrounding the
winery yield the Nero d'Avola and Frappato grapes used for the wine blends wines produced: Cerasuolo di
Vittoria D.O.C.G. and Dorilli. Since 2006, Cerasuolo di Vittoria is Sicily's only denomination of controlled and
guaranteed origin.
SCIARA NUOVA e FEUDO DI MEZZO - Castiglione di Sicilia (CT)
The Feudo di Mezzo winery is located on Mt. Etna in the contrada of the same name, in a spectacular position
within a lava flow dating from 1566. Built using typical materials of the area, the Feudo di Mezzo winery is the
perfect blend of modern architectural design and local traditions. Five Planeta wines are produced here: Brut
Metodo Classico, two Eruzione 1614 (Nerello Mascalese and Carricante) and two Etna D.O.C. (White and Red).
Just a few meters away from Montelaguardia vineyards and surrounded by Sciara Nuova vineyards, the new
Planeta hospitality venue rises up on Mt. Etna. The ancient palmento, once destined to the wine making and now
wisely renovated, houses tasting areas and wineshop.

infused the Planeta family’s work, which is deeply rooted in the Sicilian wine tradition and based upon
extensive experimentation of varieties and a profound respect for the land.
A tasting of Planeta wines, complemented by local products, is the perfect conclusion to this journey
of discovery of local culture.
Great attention is paid to the selection of typical products and local recipes to accompany the wine
tastings: each winery offers a range of the best local products, from olive oil and cheeses to
homemade breads baked according to ancient recipes.

Selection of Nebrodi ham of black pig,
