• The area affects a region primarily defined by the Adriatic
and Ionian Maritime Strategy, also covering important
terrestrial surface area. EUSAIR treats the marine,

EUSAIR macro-region - principles
Like the other existing macro regions (the Baltic Sea Region,
the Danube Region), also EUSAIR is characterised by the “3
Nos”:

NO new legislation;
NO new institutions.

EUSAIR - funding
All Programmes operating in the area shall contribute to the
implementation of the EUSAIR goals, e.g.:
• Programmes directly managed by EU COM: e.g.: Life+, Creative
Europe, Horizon 2020, Cosme, Erasmus +, etc.
• ETC interregional, transnational and bilateral Programmes;
• ERDF, ESF, EMF funds;
• Contribution from other institutions (e.g. EIB, EBRD, WBIF);
• National/ international public/private donors.
ADRION will contribute

and its projects can contribute

Mid 2015: foreseen approval of the Adriatic-Ionian Cooperation Programme, by
Decision of EC
2015: Joint Secretariat team selection; Programme launch event

ADRION - key management principles
The Managing Authority will:
• Ensure an efficient and effective Programme
facing the limited funds available;
• Ensure sound financial management;
• Guarantee transparency and equal treatment principle towards
applicants and projects;
• Support visibility of outcomes achieved;
• Provide innovative and capacity building initiatives;
• Avoid reinventing the wheel and base new projects on past
experience and results achieved (from SEE, MED, IPA Adriatic CBC…)

Contacts with MAs of MED, BALKAN-MED, DANUBE,
CENTRAL EUROPE and ALPINE SPACE are on going with
the aim of coordinating the 3 programmes with partially
overlapping areas and objectives in such a way as to
maximize the their respective impact:
i.e. joint communication, coordination during calls,
capitalization are some of the issues at stake.
