Small Yet Powerful
The NCR RealPOS 30, a compact POS
solution, offers the reliability and security of a
retail-hardened POS terminal with the
performance and flexibility of industrystandard
Offering a small footprint with big performance
Less is more with the SurePOS 300…less space, less energy, less
cost. Our smallest POS is now 37 percent smaller – measuring just
over ten inches (257 mm) in length, saving an actual $84 in valuable
checkout counter space. This amazingly small footprint offers
flexible space saving placement and remarkable versatility. The
small footprint and distributed components also allow for ideal
placement to enhance your store image.
Flexible Configuration Options
Choose from NCR's extensive line of
peripherals, including printers, displays,
keyboards and scanners. As retail
requirements grow, a full-height PCI slot
provides added flexibility to support new
functionality such as wireless networking.
Delivering energy efficiency, space saving and versatility
IBM SurePOS 300 is the affordable, planet friendly point-of-sale
solution designed to enhance the customer experience, increase
employee productivity and improve operational efficiency. The
space-saving solution provides the reliability and performance
retailers need to compete. It speeds checkout to promote customer
satisfaction and foster customer loyalty. It reduces complexity to
allow retailers to manage more competitively and improve employee
performance while employing breakthrough energy efficient
technology to lower costs and move towards a more sustainable,
“green” operation.
Reliable, Stable Solution
To ensure the highest quality and reliability,
the NCR RealPOS 30 undergoes
comprehensive environmental and
compatibility testing manufactured under
strict NCR standards.
Empowering your store with critical, on-target data, the
SurePOS 300 delivers the valuable information you need to
maintain a successful operation. Unlike a PC cash drawer or
electronic cash register, this advanced POS helps drive business,
enabling retailers to collect valuable information with each
transaction. POS data can be used for monitoring daily financial
returns, inventory management, merchandise planning, supply chain
management and loyalty programs. And, an IBM POS performs at a
lower cost per customer that a PCCD, due to faster, more accurate
service.1 It’s the same advanced technology employed by global
retail brands, engineered and priced for the smaller retailer.

Retail Core only pulls 15 Watts of Power –
the lowest-power POS system available on
the market.
What they don't mention: 15 Watts DC could only be
achieved at no CPU load and with no I/O (and possibly no
HDD). A very light I/O load will pull about 25W and a typical
I/O load would be closer to 30W.
Retail Core has the smallest POS form
factor.
235mm x 210mm x 60mm (WxDxH) for the
‘Core’, with an estimate of an additional 80mm
of height required for the ‘Core I/O extender’.
The truth: AnyPlace POS is smaller than Core! SurePOS 300
is 40% smaller than Core + Extender. And most customers
will need the extender – Retail Core only provides 2 powered
ports: 1 x 24V USB and 1 x 12V USB.
DigiPOS
Retail Core is fanless,
dispersing heat through
external heat sync. The exclusion of a fan
results in higher system reliability.
7
We Say
A fan is required for a 220W power supply, which most
customers will
need to drive I/O devices. 2) Fans are not a cause of higher
failure rates. In fact, not having
a fan carries the potential of actually increasing maintenance
requirements and decreasing
reliability over time, as heat is a key issue in all electronic
devices, from laptops to cell phones
to TVs, as many different parts within electronic devices run
more reliably when not subjected to
heat. The lack of a fan leads to higher system unit
temperatures, and these higher temperatures
drive higher failure rates over time. A properly designed
thermal system with a properly engineered fan solution will run
cooler, and run in higher ambient operating temperatures than
a fanless solution, and the fan will not be a driver of higher
failure rates.

Retail Core uses a low cost, modular Power Supply,
for easy swap out as and when required.
Retail Core is a completely sealed unit with no
moving parts, leading to less dust inside the unit, higher
reliability.
DigiPOS

We Say
Tool free access to power supply for easy, fast
service. An external power supply increases the
solution cost and the points of failure.
Dust does not reduce reliability. Heat does!
Higher system unit temperature leads to a higher
failure rate. At a typical I/O load that uses 30W of
power, the internal temperature of a sealed box
approaches 65C – hot enough to hard cook an egg
in 6 hours!
Retail Core uses DDR2 memory, expandable
up to 1GB.
The truth: The chipset used by DigiPoS in Retail
Core does not support DDR2 memory!
Retail Core has composite high density DVI-I with
VGA and DVI out. A custom cable is required for dual
independent display.
A consistent, standard dual VGA implementation
is native on SurePOS 700, and available via an
adapter on SurePOS 300.
‘Extender’ provides all powered RS232 ports.
The powered RS232 ports are likely USB based
with no DOS support.
